The word ambulance is the same in the UK as here in the U.S., as far as I know. That sentence is just awkwardly punctuate. I think the sentence should read:
“Dr. Kent Brantly, 33, is being treated in a special isolation ward in Atlanta and was able to walk, with help, from an ambulance.
ahaha OKAY i completely missed that possibility.

Since when does a hospital allow anyone coming in by ambulance to walk in? Talk about an insurance liability and a whole lot of explainin' to do if he fell and ripped his suit. Since when do ambulances park so far away from the door that patients have to walk across gravel? There is speculation he (or whomever) was wearing rubber boots. If so, then per the photos, they were inside the Tyvek suit. So, someone please tell me if the gravel punchured the suit it wouldn't totally defeat the purpose.
