Bring Out Your Dead

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

So, how many people did this 'infested' one come in contact with while still in Johannesburg? And how many of those got on other planes or went into the city?

IIRC, the infectious period could from 2 to 21 days. That could create a wide spread of contamination. But the CDC tells us there is nothing to worry about.

There was a story on Informante (leading Namibian newspaper) a couple of days ago. Guy was travelling from East Africa (not west) and was determined to have food poisoning.
