Broken Code: AFA superintendent calls for investigation of athletic transgressions
The Gazette ^ | 8-2-14 | Tom Roeder

U.S. Air Force Academy cadet athletes flouted the sacred honor code by committing sexual assaults, taking drugs, cheating and engaging in other misconduct at wild parties while the service academy focused on winning bowl games and attracting money from alumni and private sources in recent years, a Gazette investigation has found.

The findings are egregious enough that academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Michelle Johnson told The Gazette that she has called for an Inspector General's investigation of the athletic department.

Pretty cute of the Lt. Gen. to try and distance herself from any responsibility. It happened under her command. She needs to accept responsibility and resign.

“A star linebacker, leaders explain, doesn’t always come with top grades, perfect morals and high test scores.”

Then why is such an individual even attending the Air Force Academy?

Dumbing down the service academies, to make room for ghetto thugs, to win a few games, is ridiculous.

This goes back to 2011, she didn't assume command until Aug 2013. As far as the Inspector General is concerned, who do you think should investigate?

Cadets and the military are held to higher standards that those required of the commander in chief. They are just following his ethical and moral code.

The reality is that regardless of their standards they still have to get cadets from society. Our society is sliding and so is the quality of the cadet corps. This happens across the board at all the service academies. If you are looking at a student who is dumb as a box of rocks he is most likely an athlete, but moral failures can come from any portion of the respective corps or brigade.

The AFA recruited questionably qualified football players in order to win the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy. These Immoral football players did not abide by the Cadet’s honor code, they committed crimes including doing drugs, sexual assault and misconduct, these are things a typical cadet would be thrown out of the Academy for. Looks like the athletic dept is correcting the problem.
