Israeli Spox's Super Response to Mohyeldin Claim That Hamas 'Very Highly Revered' By Gazans

Do Gaza civilians support Hamas' military operations that use them as human shields and store weapons in their schools and mosques? Ayman Mohyeldin would have you think so. On today's Morning Joe, the NBC reporter claimed that among Gazans, Hamas' military wing is "very highly revered."

To which Israeli spokesman Mark Regev had a stunning comeback: "I mean, if you walk down the street in Gaza with an NBC camera and you ask people, well, was Hamas shooting from this building that the Israelis targeted? No, everyone will say, of course, not. Because you have a regime what is highly authoritarian and violent to its own people and they have the ability to control the message. It's like walking down the street in Cuba with a camera and saying do you like Fidel Castro? What can people say?"

What’s worrisome is that Mohyeldin might be right. Ping to Today show list.

I went to the local smoke shop yesterday and the owner had CNN on the TV. Of course they were covering the Isreli/Gaza war. I asked the guy, out of curiosity if he minded if I asked what his nationality was. He told me he was Palestinian, then he proceeded to say “what’s going on over there is a war crime”.

I wasn’t sure there was anything I could say at that point that wouldn’t rile him up, so I just said “yeah, that’s unreal”.

These people might seriously think this way.

Someone (I heard about it on Mark Levin maybe?) talked of interviewing a Spanish journalist who’d been reporting from Gaza and asking him why he didn’t show Hamas firing rockets at Israel, which he did see. The answer: Because they’d kill us if they caught us!

Are you going to continue patronizing that smoke shop, now that you know he’s Palestinian?

No, not because he’s Palestinian per se, but because of his attitude towards the war and who is on the right side of it.

It’s unfortunate, because he otherwise seemed like a decent guy; and unlike other shops he always had stock of items I was interested in.

It’s pretty easy for people to put on a facade as store owners, but I broke through that veneer and found something unpalatable.

We'll only know by destroying the current government, and installing another with the capability of ruling with some semblance of humanity. I'm not convinced the voters wouldn't go for Hamas again, then I'm not sure elections should be held for a decade or so after the incitement ceases.
