Driving home from NYC last night, I heard a quick story on WABC top-of-the-hour news that the Health Department had "alerted doctors and other health providers to immediately report anyone they suspect might have the disease."

They have also dispatched "quarantine officers" to LGA, JFK, and EWR.

Here's one story on it.

And, how do these tribal folk properly check these animals for infection, then kill and properly dispose go the bodies?

How many suits of protective clothing do we need to send over there, and who will supervise the sampling of bodily fluids and tissues?

Just a few questions that come to mind, unfortunately unanswered by Wikipedia.

You KNOW Baraq is doing everything he can to introduce Ebola into the U.S. It would be his dream come true. Meanwhile, he, the Wookie, Mama Robinson, and Sharia and Malaria would get to flee the country on AF-1 to a safe location. And of course, the elitist in this country have their offshore safe havens to flee to.

No,they don’t understand how it is spread and continue to practice the unsafe activities that hasten the spread such as touching a corpse to say so long or fearing the “Medicine Man” thinking they carry it and also eating Fruit Bats that carry it.

I think it was just a consideration. One was a doctor from Ft Worth on a medical mission. The other might be part of that mission also, can’t recall all details.

“Megan Kelly reported last night that the USA is going to bring some Ebola patients here to treat.”

Ostensibly to learn how to contain and treat it to prepare for a potential US outbreak. Kinda risky IMO considering it’s killed 50 health care workers, repeatedly jumps quarantine and the transmission vectors aren’t fully known or understood.

“How do THEY get it?”

Contact with other animals that have it, same as any other disease carried by animals like rabies.

According to all of the information that has been published, 700+ dead seems like a small number considering the numbers really infected and the measures that some are taking as a precaution. The physicians on site are stating it is out of control which means this is the beginning of a significant outbreak and epidemic. I think the numbers will change exponentially within the next few days as the infection/outbreak spreads and the medical community is overwhelmed.

I posted the following on another thread maybe somehere can comment:
Someone here who might know more on this stuff.
Is true and/or possible that if Ebola were to spread, it would continue to mutate and that it would become less deadly as that mutation happens is larger population areas?

I read recently on one of these threads that experts think that people contracted the ebola virus through eating infected fruit bats.

Have to agree with that statement.

The plot of infection numbers on the wiki page for this outbreak began going exponential several weeks ago.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_West_Africa_Ebola_outbreak

And that’s just a snapshot of where ebola was roughly 2 weeks ago. We won’t know where it is today for about 10 more days.

Lovely thought that.

That’s one possible vector.

Bushmeat is a problem in Africa.

But if you’re poor and hungry, any sort of food do.

DC(El Presidente) should cancel the African Leaders Summit scheduled in town this weekend and next week. That’s all we need is these folks and their support staff from these countries here. Of course, the WH is assuring everyone that there is no danger, but they do have a troubling past with telling the truth.

Actuarially speaking, 1300 confirmed cases is statistically insignificant. Particularly, given that there’s no evidence that the virus is spreading beyond the small area in which it can be found.

What we have here is another summer of the shark.
