What doesn’t make sense is that everything damaging Obama has done to date is so far removed from him and his family personally. By meeting with these people he is exposing himself, his family, his staff (and an entire city if not nation) to a potentially deadly disease.

I approve of Obama meeting with large entourages from several Ebola countries - it's the least destructive thing he has done since he usurped power.
As I sit here and extrapolate, thinking of my husband who just returned to work in an African country and will be coming to D.C. for the summit...we tend to think the elites are somewhat isolated, distanced, from the man in the street who might be infectious. However, how many people are employed by members of the entourages in positions such as housekeepers, drivers, gardeners, couriers, etc. who come to work from their villages? My husband employs at least 4 people- maid, gardener, and 2 (3?) security guards. My husband is just a pilot living alone. He refuses to move me to Africa because the conditions are so bad. Anyway, food for thought. I’m more concerned about it coming here than where he is because of normalcy bias and denial, as well as our mobility.
Well I sure hope your husband does not catch anything.

I called the White House comment line for the 1st time in a long time. I told the gal, I couldn’t believe that the President’s medical people would OK him meeting with these people.
However, if he must they should meet on a deserted island and the President and all staff should self quarantine before coming back to the mainland.

I don’t mean martial law in that he is controlling down to the people level , such as curfews and such. All he needs is to control the major things like seizing control of the media ( though who could probably tell the difference ), seizing private businesses, resources ( such as water ), and of course suspending the normal operation of the government. He has given himself authority to do that ( by executive order )
through the National Defense Resources Preparedness order signed in March 2012.
