It’s not spread thru the air...it’s touching body fluids...which includes sweat.

I’m an RN. As far as we know *now* it’s not airborne, however, as I stated, Ebola Reston mutated and went airborne. When health care workers in full PPE that takes 30 minutes to put on and go though decontamination taking it off get Ebola, it makes one raise an eyebrow. There is a huge amount of misinformation circulating and being parroted. I wish I hadn’t read so many books.

The infection rate began to climb again in West AFrica around the end of April/early May. That’s around the time their rainy season begins. Also known as mosquito season. It’s also around the time healthcare workers using heretofore adequate precautions began getting infected.

I suspect it may be transmitted by some sort of insect, like mosquito.

“Pathogenesis

The pathogenesis of hemorrhagic fever viruses is not completely understood; however, key points include the following (Peters 2002):

Hemorrhagic fever viruses enter the bloodstream through various mechanisms (eg, the bite of a mosquito or tick, inhalation, mucous membrane exposure, parenteral exposure), and all (except hantaviruses) cause disease during the period of viremia.”

That was my leap into concern as well. Med tech.

It's just better to play it as if it is air-born IMO.....why wait otherwise since Doctors without Borders are pretty adamant it's out of control there and continuing to spread. When you have all nations on alert...that says something in itself.

however, as I stated, Ebola Reston mutated and went airborne.

Whether that in fact happened is debated to this day. Yes, animals in different rooms were infected and yes, alternate explanations exist for how that occurred. It is not regarded as anywhere near scientific "fact" that the mode of transmission was indeed through aerosols, although articles and blogs endlessly act as though it is.

It is suspected that Reston went airborne since other monkeys in other rooms at the facility where Reston was first identified also got sick and died. However, there are other ways they could have been exposed—for instance, caretakers could have carried virus on their clothing.

I do not think that it has been definitively established that Reston was airborne.
