Pence wants child immigrants sent home

INDIANAPOLIS | Gov. Mike Pence wants the 245 unaccompanied child immigrants recently placed with Indiana relatives or sponsors sent back across the nation's southern border as soon as possible.

In a letter sent Tuesday to President Barack Obama, the Republican said while he feels "deep compassion" for the children and believes they should be "treated humanely and with decency and respect," there is no place for them here.

"Failure to expedite the return of unaccompanied children thwarts the rule of law and will only continue to send a distorted message that illegally crossing into America is without consequence," Pence said.

Pence demanded the president provide proof that Hoosier families the children have been placed with have legal immigration status and requested "real-time" updates when child immigrants are moved into or out of Indiana.

The governor also bemoaned that Indiana will be required to educate and provide health care for the children until they leave.

"States should not be asked by the federal government to deal with the consequences of a failed national immigration policy," Pence said.

"The best way to stop this humanitarian crisis is to reunite the children who have come to America with their families in their home countries," Coats said. "Doing so will deter more children from making the dangerous journey to the United States."

State Sen. Brent Steele, R-Bedford, went a step further. Steele claimed in a letter sent Tuesday to his southern Indiana constituents that Obama personally encouraged the flow of immigrant children and declared Indiana is unable and unwilling to assimilate them.

"How far can you push a citizenry by increased taxation to pay for all these children before they revolt?" Steele asked.

Neither state nor federal taxes have increased due to this year's surge of unaccompanied child immigrants. In fact, Indiana's corporate income tax rate decreased 0.5 percent on July 1.

A total of 30,340 unaccompanied child immigrants -- many fleeing horrific gang violence in Central America -- have been placed with U.S. relatives or sponsors through July 7, according to the federal refugee office. Just 0.8 percent have come to Indiana.

The refugee office said before a child is released, relatives and sponsors must verify their relationship with the immigrant child, pass a background check and in some cases a home study.

All immigrant children receive pre-release vaccinations and medical screenings, and sponsors must agree to cooperate with all immigration proceedings.

Members of some of the United States' most notorious street gangs have infiltrated shelters housing illegal immigrant minors from Central America and are recruiting them, say Homeland Security sources. An estimated 57,000 minors from Central America have flooded across the border from Mexico to the U.S. in recent months, and gang leaders are reportedly filling their ranks from among them.

Shawn Moran, vice president of the National Border Control Patrol Council, a union which represents border agents, says agents have witnessed the recruiting process.

There were interesting exchanges on this topic at yesterday's House hearing on immigration.

<><> Patriot Cong Randy Forbes said Americans need to know if violent gang members are walking their streets. Forbes asked UCIS--a DHS agency--headed by Obama appointee Leon Rodrigues---whether the agency asked applicants whether they are gang members---and when they invariably reply no, how does the agency know whether it's true or not?

Rodriguez would not reveal information---Forbes insisted on knowing "do you even ask them if they're gang members."

<><> Even more interesting was watching brilliant Cong Louie Gohmert (Rep-Tx) set the trap for the oily Rodriguez. Gohmert--- the former judge's brilliant circumlocution was awesome. He nailed the mealy-mouth Gonzalez to the wall.

GOHMERT: WRT drug cartels paid $6000 to "guide" the hordes over the birder---"Would you, as a former prosecutor, call them criminals?," he nonchalantly asked Gonzales.

Gonzales stepped into the trap as Cong Gohmert casually hoisted him on his own petard. Making the point that if the hordes were coming here to escape drug cartels, why is it they pay the violent breed to get over the border?

Obama appointee, UCIS head, Leon Gonzales was interviewed. Totally biased---said his second language was Spanish----and that he once belonged to Casa Manana (or something), that was advocating for unlimited immigration.

The lock-stepping Gonzalez gets grade A for Evasion and for loyally following orders from the Commandant in the WH.

When Democrats questioned him, he knew everything and responded in great detail. But to Republicans he whined about being new to the jobs---and parroted "gotta get back to you on that."

Repub Cong/men Jason Chaffetz, Louis Gohmert and Randy Forbes were standout patriots, protecting Americans from the invading hordes at the border.

Cong Gohmert stopped the show with his probing judicial-like queries---the former judge's brilliant circumlocution, and his prodigious knowledge of the law was awesome---as well as his ability to nail Gonzalez to the wall.

Gonzales made a show of his legal bgrnd---but he paled agaimst Goehmert's expertise. Gonzales, as a former prosecutor and officer of the court, should know that the US justice system is not amenable to dispensing justice to litigants w/ "unclean hands"---a legal term meaning those who have committed crimes. His license to practice law should be pulled.

Sad to see Cong Jason Chaffetz's resignation, knowing we'd get nowhere with the lock-stepping Gonsalez----prostrate in obeisance to Obama---his lips pressed firmly to the WH behind.

Cong Guttierez (Dim-Ill) made a lamebrain appearance--- this imbecile had to have used voter fraud to get into office---no one in their right mind would vote for the Spanglish-speaking moron.

We need to find out (1) how many identities he's using, (2) how many govt checks he, his family, and his staff are cashing, and, (3) Guttierez's membership in violent organizations advocating the overthrow of the US govt.

There was an article on FR a bit ago about a young college student, supporting her grandmother, who is working a second job to pay off the coyote debt.

Children enslaved by coyote debt become a means of support to those who engage in human trafficking and to those that pay to bring them over as they work to pay off the debt. Acquiring a child via “unaccompanied child” trafficking enables illegal alien households to qualify for increased social services, and to benefit from increased cash earnings into the relative’s household as the “child” is hired out to pay the debt. Coyotes can “re-sell” the debt to someone else more determined to collect.

These children need to be returned to their own countries where their own governments can ensure that they are with who they are supposed to be with and that they are not exploited under color of ‘migrant status.’

Human Rights Watch reports on wage slavery (just substitute ‘coyote’ or ‘relative’ for the word ‘employer’ and the word ‘unaccompanied child’ with the word ‘mother’):

“In a typical case, a woman is recruited with promises of a good job in another country or province, and lacking better options at home, she agrees to migrate. There are also cases in which...children are bartered by their parents for a cash advance and/or promises of future earnings.... Next an agent makes arrangements for the woman’s travel ....”

Women are told that they must work without wages until they have repaid the purchase price advanced by their employers, an amount far exceeding the cost of their travel expenses. Employers also maintain their power to “resell” indebted women into renewed levels of debt. In some cases, women find that their debts only increase and can never be fully repaid.”
