Exploiting the I-Word: Far more than the GOP, it’s the Democrats who love talking about impeachment.
National Review ^ | 07/30/2014 | Jonah Goldberg

‘Sorry to email you late on a Friday, but I need your urgent support,” Nancy Pelosi wrote me.

The House minority leader went on to explain that “for the first time in history, Congress voted to sue a sitting president.” And, “Today: the White House alerted us that they believe ‘Speaker Boehner . . . has opened the door to impeachment.’

“What Republicans are doing to President Obama is historic — and offensive,” she wrote. And then, in a bright bold red text that can’t be done justice in black and white, she chided me, “With everything happening right now, I’m a little disappointed to see that you haven’t had a chance to chip in to defend President Obama.

“Jonah — we could use your support today.”

Nancy (apparently we’re on a first-name basis) went on to promise that ALL GIFTS ARE TRIPLE MATCHED!

This was only one of a bushel of such e-mails from the Democratic party. I particularly like the ones from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee referring to the “red alert impeachment deadline,” complete with a scoreboard slowly ticking upward toward $2 million. “We now have a shot at hitting our $2,000,000 goal to defend the President — and defeat Boehner’s Republican House.”

No doubt as karmic payback for grave sins I committed in a past life, I am on all of the Democratic fundraising lists. In terms of whipped-up urgency aimed at low-information voters, there’s nothing special about these importuning missives. I can’t count how many times I’ve been told that if I don’t chip in $5 — right now! — the Koch brothers will throw another puppy into the furnace of their land-raping dynamo.

But what is interesting about these e-mails is the transparent glee. Far more than Republicans, Democrats love talking about impeachment. Not just Pelosi and the DCCC, but White House spokesman Josh Earnest, Obama adviser Dan Pfeiffer, and first lady Michelle Obama all chummed the waters with the I-word, igniting a frenzy among reporters who pretend that this is a real thing.

Ostensibly the hook for all of this is John Boehner’s decision to sue Obama for abusing presidential authority. Pfeiffer said Friday that the suit “opened the door to impeachment.” But pretty much everyone in Washington knows that the political motivation for the lawsuit is to close, not open, those doors.

The president constantly talks about the evils of cynicism as if denouncing the alleged dishonesty of others demonstrates his own honesty. In 2008, he said cynicism was his real opponent. Last week at an L.A. fundraiser, he returned to the theme, calling Republicans liars and bamboozlers.

The cynicism of Obama’s war on cynicism is breathtaking. He’s wasted so much of his presidency demonizing political opponents as deranged radicals who need to shut up and get in line. Even now he is thumping the podium about “economic patriotism,” as if loyalty to his views on taxation is the only proof of 100 percent Americanism.

Last fall, Obama did nearly everything he could to be thrown into the briar patch of a government shutdown in order to denounce the Republicans for shutting down the government. When it went into effect, the administration endeavored to make the shutdown as painful as possible — a replay of a similar scheme with the sequester — so he could arouse the public against his political foes.

Given Obama’s famously low regard for the Clinton presidency, it’s ironic that he keeps stealing from its playbook. Bill Clinton benefited from a government shutdown and impeachment and from the general perception that his enemies were worse than his sins. The difference is that while Clinton was hardly immune to the charge of cynicism, he wasn’t trying to shut down the government or get impeached for narrow political advantage.

Now Obama is reportedly considering a unilateral amnesty of millions of immigrants here illegally, knowing full well it will spark a fierce political backlash and heighten impeachment talk. No doubt he thinks it’s the right thing to do on the merits, with his famous pen and phone. What’s less clear is if the merits are his top priority.

Take it out of the political arena and put him on trial in a criminal court after he’s out of office.

Let the democrats try raising money on that.

Yeah, the Dems see this as a rallying point. I had a discussion with a lib on facebook. He was convinced that if the GOP took the Senate, Obama would be impeached and removed. When I told him it takes a 2/3rds vote to remove, he said that the GOP could get to that point in the 2014 elections. When I told him that even if the GOP won every Senate election - highly unlikely - and still would be short of a 2/3rds majority, he threw a tantrum rather than admit he was wrong.

Typical liberal mindset.

What do you expect the Dems to do when Congressmen and pundits and Palin all say that Obama should be impeached? They’re going to milk it for every bit of political capital that they can. The Dems didn’t make this issue up out of thin air.

How can someone who is so mentally disturbed as this woman remain in office? I mean by that rationale Charles Manson could be Senator, and that is perfectly legit? Isn’t there some provision that if someone is Section 8 they can be removed from office? My theory is she’s a harcore drug abuser, probably meth judging by all her tics and facial expressions, but she could also be just mentally ill. Either way, the woman is obviously not fit to serve so why is she allowed to remain in office?

DEMOCRATS WISHING ON A STAR FOR IMPEACHMENT Senior Obama Adviser Dan Pfeiffer told reporters at a CSM breakfast that it's possible that Obama could be impeached by the Republican-controlled House....b/c Boehner's lawsuit "opened the door" to impeachment. Obama Press Secretary Josh Earnest was coached to say "prominent voices in the Republican party" have called for impeachment, but he was hard-pressed to name one other than Sarah Palin.

ROTFLOL---Desperate Dummycrats are resurrecting the impeachment bugaboo to raise shady money.....actually raising monies for impeachment from diehard Obama suckups.

This gambit----and Obama's obsessive non-stop fund raising----is beginning to look sinister. The world smolders but the Dumbcrat ding-a-lings are wishing on a star for impeachment.

REALITY CHECK Could this be a WH/Democrat Ponzi scheme in progress?

While they bash Wall Street publicly, leaders of the Democrats' mega-funder "The Democracy Alliance" have quietly recruited venture capitalists, bankers and hedge fund moguls -- along with union bosses and red-diaper trust fund babies -- to fund their takeover goals. ....$230,000 public school union dues go to the Democrats' "Democracy Alliance."

"The Democracy Alliance" does not itself raise and spend a great deal of money. Rather, being a partner in the Alliance requires one to contribute large amounts to other left-wing groups. The Alliance evaluates left-wing organizations on various criteria, and makes recommendations to its members as to where they should put their money. Currently, the Alliance lists 21 groups in its “Aligned Network”:

<><> America Votes, American Constitution Society, Black Civic Engagement Fund, Brennan Center, Catalyst, Center for American Progress, Center for Community Change, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, Common Purpose Project, Fund for the Republic, Latino Engagement Fund, Media Matters for America, New Media Ventures, New Organizing Institute, Organizing For Action, Progressive Majority, Progress Now, State Engagement Initiative, State Voices, Women’s Equality Center and Youth Engagement Fund.<><>

The most interesting of the D/A documents that have come to light is the one that contains D/A’s “investment recommendations” for 2014. Not only does it list the recommended organizations, but it rates each organization in several categories, sets out the group’s budget for 2014, and shows how much of that budget should be contributed by the 100 members of the "Democracy Alliance." One category in which DA rates the organizations is “Collaboration,” as DA believes that all left-wing groups should coordinate their activities for maximum political impact.

Opportunistic pols like Harry Reid have denounced Charles and David Koch, and others, who contribute to conservative causes as “shadowy,” “secretive” people who dare infest politics with “dark money.”

In that context, it is worth noting that most of the groups to which the Alliance and its elite liberal members contribute are 501(c)(4)s that do not disclose their donors.

===============================================

ANALYSIS Buncha sap-happy Dummy/dopes are feeding the Democrats' Democracy Alliance lotsa money---thinking its safe.....going to a "good thing."

That's exactly how Madoff operated. Money-laundering, tax evasion was part of the Madoff mix---helping investors, foundations, and tax-exempts break the law in a seemingly legal way.

=====================================================

Madoff helped himself to the untraceable money in the process.....and got himself in trouble. When he went to jail for 125 years, investigators found Ponzi King Madoff had stashed billions offshore---into a labyrinth of financial entities.

COLLUSION AND CONSPIRACIES GALORE Some $8.9 billion was funneled to Madoff through a dozen so-called feeder funds based in Europe, the Caribbean and Central America......a labyrinth of hedge funds, management companies and service providers that, to unsuspecting outsiders, seemed to compose a formidable system of checks and balances.

But the purpose of this complex financial architecture was just the opposite: the feeder funds provided different modes for directing money to Madoff in order to avoid scrutiny.

Dummycrats apparently took notes.

“Typical liberal mindset. “

You should have thrown the , “Harry Reid went nuclear so why wouldn’t republicans do the same thing?” at him.

I did that to one of my lib friends and he went bananas. Funniest thing I have seen in years.

Some of us caught on to the Dem trickery last week — when several Dems kept bringing up the i-word and the Pubbies were responding, ‘huh? what are you talking about?’

It is sort of like Steffie at the debate asking Romney whether he would support a state denying contraception to women. Romney went, ‘huh??? what are you talking about?’

This is a supposed political crisis that is being manufactured by the Dems as a strategy to rile up their voters for November. Even Boehner recognizes that. There are, however, a few prominent Republicans who are pushing the issue, too.

Then, there is the compliant media who are using the i-word during every news break.
