In getting information, you must analyze and prioritize what you are looking for. Do you think that a group of a dozen analysts can read through, or care to read through, trillions of e-mails? If you do then you are sadly mistaken. Given the vast numbers invoved, analysis, especially keyword searches, are neccessary to find suspicious material, and even then, you have to argue it out with a fisa court if the e-mail ptoves anything. In the world of computing, you have an easy way for everyone from a terrorist to a simple dissenter easily dodging the government spotlight. Even here at FR, it would be easy to figure out the computer which plenty of us post on this forum and take any meaningful action. Under true tyranny, however, a government doesn’t need to spy on you, or prove some kind if guilt, it can order your imprisonment, torture, or death, and make excuses up after the fact.
