Gaza is mostly dark at night, all their electricity is provided by Israel, even the electricity in their terrorist tunnels, so for the sake of surveillance and targeting by drones it provides necessary illumination.
Plus it denies the movement of large numbers of terrorists and heavy artillery unobserved.
