::sigh::
Ok...Tillis is not even close to Bannon. But I will take his part way conservatism against Hagan’s PROVEN leftist fascism and slavish devotion to the clown prince in the White House ANYTIME. No way will I sit this one out.
I and every conservative...every PERSON in NC should loathe Hagan and her policies and send her the heck home.
I am sorely afraid that you are quite correct. I was a rather quiet Brannon supporter. Vote for Tillis because he’s the only one who can win, THEY said. No other candidate has any credibility, THEY said. The other candidates have no political experience and will wind up as lightening rods to be exploited by Hagan, THEY said. Tillis has the organization for a state-wide race and has access to resources, THEY said.
WE said Tillis is an establishment pro-amnesty RINO who is better at making back room deals than fighting for Conservative principles in a tough campaign. WE said Hagan would eat his lunch because he would run like Romney, and allow himself to be defined by Hagan early through negative ads.
What are THEY saying now? WE can only shake our heads and state the obvious: THEY had their head up their various asses, did not know what the HELL they were talking about and that WE TOLD YOU SO, DAMN IT!
Small consolation. I am so weary of fools.
There doesn’t need to be an alternative.
They haven’t earned my vote, thus they don’t get it.
That is all.
A fair point, but I’ll take someone who I agree with 80% of the time, over someone who I agree with 0% of the time.
I am luke-warm for Tillis who is an establishment politician, the favorite of GOP-e and Dough-Boy Rove, and whose uninspiring grey flannel mien can possibly beat Hag Hagan.
I am red-hot against Hag Hagan who is a boot licker for 0bama and the Progressive Democrat machine, and the worst NC Senator since John Edwards.
I'll pull the lever for Tillis and I hope he wins, but I'll send my money to the strong Conservative candidates in other Senate races. In the end, I think Tillis will win by a few percentage points but he is an uninspiring choice and a mediocre pick for North Carolina. We could have done much much better.
I happen to think there is a VAST difference between Sen. Kay Hagan’s voting record and the voting record of Thom Tillis.
Anyone who thinks otherwise simply is not dealing with reality.
Sure, but what if it's not 80% of the time?
What if you really can't be sure of what you'll get, but it's probably going to average out closer to 50-50 or even 45-55?
Is it better to let the opposition get tagged for blame or the party you'd prefer to support for both doing exactly the same things, just the GOPe's not quite as bad?
What's the difference between them really? Not much, just a matter of time.
See what three decades worth of GOPe progressive moderation does against the real deal progressivism of the demonrats?
It just makes you disgusted and ask questions instead of pledging your heart and digging into your wallet.
Nothing of this world is too big to fail, especially not a political party that walks away from its base to hug and kiss the opposition.
You are right but the vast majority gets their candidate info from 30 sec bits on tv and radio.
Hagan is destroying Tillis in that. IMO
‘Tillis stopped teacher pay raises’.
Does the majority recall that they didn’t get raises under Gov. Perdue(D) and a dim state legislature either.? No.
This should be an easy Repub win but the repubs are going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
The one political opportunity they are good at.
Should be an easy pick up in a southern state carried by MR in 2012.
However, incumbents are never easy to dislodge.
However, in this particular senate seat, the voters in NC have a long term tradition of flipping it with great regularity.
Plus demographic factors in midterm elections are more favorable to the GOP than is generally the case in presidential election years.
You can say that again. Unfortunately the purists won't care. They'd rather have Hagan than anyone less than 100% pure.
Pure INSANITY.
NOTHING in life is perfect.
LEAST of all...politics.
I'll grant that the difference between BO and Romney, or McCain, was "Not Much". For that matter, Bush was no great shakes, though I'd take him over any of the other three.
However, the difference between 49 and 51 Senate Republicans is enormous. Ditto 217 and 218 House Republicans. So, until I see a candidate in the race who's not running a YouTube campaign out of his basement (like the current Libertarian candidate is) and might get more than 2-3% of the vote.... Tillis will have my support.
What if you really can't be sure of what you'll get ......If you don't even bother, you can be certain that you'll always get zero percent of what you want.
Of course, for all too many FReepers, sitting on their hands and being martyrs gives them the right to b*tch and moan about how awful all of the candidates were, how all of the Republicans are RINOs that will never measure up to their standards, and how things would be much, much better if everyone just conformed to their particular world view.
I know what you are saying I do agree with the sentiment but even if its 45% of the time, its better than 97% of the time against not just what I believe but against me personally as a citizen and taxpayer. Her votes and beliefs directly attack me, all of us, really...starting with zerocare, porculous 1&2, Dodd Frank and every other piece of freedom shredding legislation the scumbag and his party could dream up to steal from wage earners and bestow on the gibmedats.
She has her hand in the direct perversion and destruction of our Constitution. NO WAY will I not vote against her. That leaves Tillis by default as the person who has at least the chance of defeating her.
She has got to go and the Senate has got to be turned.
But I don’t agree with the GOP 80% of the time.
I really don’t agree with them at all, especially since they are working against me and everyone else seemingly all the time.
They are clearly the enemy of the American people, just as the democrats are, and I do not agree with my enemy 80% of the time.
The GOP platform is actually quite good.
It’s getting everyone to abide by it that’s the hard part.
Like the catechism of the Catholic Church
The Legislature did many great things for the conservative cause this year and Tillis was the leader.
In my youth, I rarely had the right tool for the job and just made do with what I had. And as I get older, politics and elections are more or less the same way, with similar or worse results.
I've come to realize that I can really screw things up making do using the wrong tool I have and the same is true in politics supporting someone who votes with you maybe half the time at best and against you the rest of the time.
I read on here somewhere not long ago that a traitor hurts you in ways that an enemy cannot and for some reason I can't get that thought out of my head in these days of our fundamental transformation.
I've used the butt end of a screwdriver as a hammer more than once, myself.
I'd rather do that, though, than be stuck with using a chainsaw as a hammer.
(now, there's a convoluted metaphor for ya...) :-)
