For the same reason we deserve to be free. Why do you think they deserve to be slaves of Putin?
We deserve to be free because we defeated the work’s largest and most powerful empire (twice) and relocated or exterminated tribes of savages who objected to our rights over our territory.
Nobody “deserves” to be free as an abstraction.
