Ok, here is what bugs me. The IRS and the NSA are lying to congress. So, why wouldn’t they also be lying to the FISA Court. Why should we believe they are telling them the truth. If you have no qualms about lying to one branch of the government why would you not lie to the other branch as well. And because its secret, who is to know. Who is making sure that they are telling the truth. Not the press. If the press wanted to look into it they couldn’t. Because they don’t even get to hear about it.

I think its dangerous whenever the US government does anything in secret. We the people have an important job. We are the 5th and largest estate in the government. We vote for the government. We can change the constitution. But we can’t do our jobs unless we know about it. And one of our jobs is to change the government when we don’t like it. It seems to me that the government should not be allowed to do anything in secret unless there is clear and present danger and then only for a short period of time.

The statement, “A democracy is beholden to its people” is not totally true. It’s more accurate to say. A democracy is beholden to its people so far as its transparent in everything it does.

All you wrote is cogent. Do you see how you have made the very tight case for the press not being anything but controlled by someone who wants to manipulate ‘the government’? Those ‘someones’ have been doing it since 1913 and the establishment of the ‘federal reserve’, which is nothing but a private banking cartel pretending to be a federal agency while manipulating world events and this government to their ends, not the people’s.
