‘Our Neighbor Isn’t Doing Its Part’ (Honduras prez blames US for border swarm)

The president of Honduras says the United States and its drug habit are to blame for the violence and kid immigrants fleeing Central America.

President Juan Orlando Hernández's tiny, impoverished country is both very dependent on what happens in the United States---without leverage to shape it. The only leverage, that Honduras and its small, equally troubled neighbors Guatemala and El Salvador have come in the form of small children, tens of thousands of whom have clambered over the U.S. border this year in numbers so large and so unexpected they’ve created an immigration crisis that, at the least, has succeeded in placing Central America’s plague of drugs, violence and poverty on the Washington agenda in a way it wouldn’t have been otherwise.....

Honduras is so deadly that its city of San Pedro Sula has been dubbed “the murder capital of the world” and so politically troubled that Washington hardly blinked when its elected president was toppled in a coup a few years back. Interview follows. --SNIP--

His son lacks Soros’s bizarre background and — likely being completely pampered all his life — probably isn’t as hard-working in his zeal to wreck the world. My guess is after Soros shuffles off, Junior will spend his life fighting against a horde of nations, corporations and individuals keen to seize Dad’s assets, while trying diligently to maintain the style to which he is accustomed.

How is Honduras not upset Obama is stealing their children?

Oddly, this is eerily like the plot of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or Temple of Doom.

So long as the theme of action never becomes like “Sweeney Todd”. which ran on Broadway for years and years. I never wished to see it, due to the bloodied up storyline.

The fact that the El Salvadoran president, Obama and others conveniently do not remind the public of, because doing so would be inconvenient to their excuses, is the level of LEGAL immigration from El Salvador and EVERY South and Central American country.

For instance, tiny El Savador with a 2000 population of less than 2 million, had LEGAL immigration from 1996 to 2012 of over 600,000.

One supremely FALSE narrative from all of Latin America and from all “immigration rights” advocacy outfits is that LEGAL immigration from Latin America has been proportionately insufficient. From the perspective of the facts, the Latin American countries populations and the level of LEGAL immigration from them, there can be no truth to that myth and its false judgement on U.S. immigration.

***
Really? They just appeared there after having navigated all the way by themselves? Such prodigies! I wonder if they had handheld GPS devices. Traveled all that way alone and showed up pretty clean and looking well fed. Amazing.

If these “small children” are that smart and competent, they could probably be employed by the government or industry as genius problem solvers.

Thank you both---two excellent contributions to the thread.

=================================================

Hugo Chavez taught Boobamba a neat trick---if you don't have the votes to win---you import them from destitute countries. If you promise them billions in remittances they'll gladly empty out their villages.

INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY---Central America Border Rush Fueled By Remittances
(extortion racket---US taxpayers to prop up corrupt govts)

......52,000 unaccompanied illegals crossed the south Texas border this year.....as the political debate focused on immigration enforcement, a key economic factor has been lost in the clamor. Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, which are supplying three-quarters of the latest cross-border flood, and are dependent on their diaspora in the US to prop up their own woeful economies.

Immigrants send back billions of dollars to their families. Remittances have risen to 16.5% of El Salvador's GDP, 15.7% of Honduras' and 10% of Guatemala's, according to World Bank data. Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and Bolivia rely on remittances for 4.1% to 9.7% of GDP.

But the figure drops precipitously for every other country in Latin America. Mexico, with the largest immigrant population in the U.S. with as many as 13 million people, now relies on remittances for just 2% of GDP.

Migrant remittances to Mexico were $22 billion in 2013, 29% below their 2006 peak. For Colombia, once a locus of drug-war violence, that has turned itself around, remittances are only 1.1% of GDP. Free-market star Chile's figure is 0%.

It's not surprising to see Central American leaders urging the U.S. to let the newest arrivals stay. Those migrants' remittances offer a lifeline to desperately poor countries. While the money goes to families, it helps the broader economy......and ultimately fills government coffers.

A 2008 Pew Research Center survey found that 54% of foreign-born Hispanics send remittances to their home countries, compared to 17% of U.S.-born Hispanics. Undocumented immigrants are believed to send more cash home than either.

Virtually all the cash received by the three remittance outliers is from the U.S. (Guatemala 89%, El Salvador 90%, Honduras 87%).

===========================================

OBAMA'S HATE-AMERICA FIESTA CONTINUES The Obama administration praised a Mexico and Guatemala agreement that would facilitate emptying out their villages---- allowing even more migrants into the US to board the US gravy train. In fact, Obama may even send Mexico US tax dollars----"foreign aid" to help Mexico out.

At a recent Senate hearing WRT the swarm at the border, Ambassador Thomas A. Shannon, Dept of State counsellor, told senators "Mexico's Southern border strategy with Guatemala was a welcome step towards improving Mexico’s ability to exercise greater control along its border with Guatemala and Belize."

(waiting for hysterical laughter to die down)
