The Reps made a major mistake in 2012 not making a major challenge to DACA, which has already legalized 560,000 Dreamers to date. Instead, Cantor and his ilk wanted to pass their own version of this unconstitutional action. By not doing anything then, we now face the specter of an amnesty by executive order, which will be very difficult to undo. And no doubt, the GOPe and their corporate paymasters will be gloating.
First and foremost the immigration debacle didn't just happen in a vacuum overnight. These guys have been working on this for years and years. We should be able to glean a reasonable solution but not overnight.
One of the biggest solutions to the immigration debacle is to be able to assess blame when millions of illegals create a huge burden on the country as they are now.
Without that that it gets tougher.
We need traction on all the problems created by not paying attention to immigration laws that have been on the books for years. Its ever so important to bring in only a few immigrants who can actually help the country instead of hurting the country. If we get those points across we can get traction. Another key issue is securing the border. If we don't get there nothing will matter.
But, its gonna take traction and we have to get our messages out. Once again messaging isn't important its everything.
