These guys are not revered by their compatriots. That adulation shown to them is faked. The most important thing to an Arab is clan. These guys come to them clan-less. There is no place for them. They are alone, recruited, given drugs or sex or alcohol. They are never alone and are shown a fake reverence and appreciation by those around them. And, there is a limitless supply of mentally weak lonely people. (Oh, and it’s likely that there’s a second remote detonator in case they lose their nerve.)
That is absolutely true, but I have a feeling, when he croaked, he experienced the most rude awakening anyone can ever have. Now, he is stuck with it forever, and I think that will tend to be more than just a little bit of a long time.
