WASHINGTON — President Obama will go ahead with a “very significant” executive action on immigration after the summer – a move that may well trigger impeachment proceedings against him, senior Obama adviser Dan Pfeiffer told reporters at a Monitor breakfast Friday.
“The president acting on immigration reform will certainly up the likelihood that [Republicans] would contemplate impeachment at some point,” said Mr. Pfeiffer, who has been at the Obama White House since its inception.
A lot of people in Washington laughed off Sarah Palin’s call to impeach the president for executive overreach, Pfeiffer said, but “I would not discount that possibility.” Polling shows strong support for the idea among the GOP base, he said, adding that House Speaker John Boehner (R) of Ohio has opened the door to the possibility with his lawsuit against Obama.

Consider this:
- If it is a "classified" National Security Directive, any possible whistleblower in USCIS would be constrained from leaking the information, as they would be leaking classified stuff...and that's called espionage.
- If it is a "classified" NSD, public comment would not be open on the subject (because it's classified).
- If it is a "classified" NSD, Congress could not hold public hearings on the subject (if Congress was even informed in the first place)
As far as the legality of immediately granting citizenship, well, that would be clearly illegal. But, since when has that disturbed Obama?
Once the action was found to be illegal, though, then we'd have to consider the cases of the individuals who were naturalized.
- First, each of these newly naturalized people would have to have an individual court hearing. If you are talking 5 to 10 million people, that's a whole bunch of time tying up the courts.
- Second, who's going to challenge one of these peoples' status as naturalized citizens? Somebody's going to have to bring the case forward. Normally, that would be the government doing it...but if the government is the one who intentionally did so, obviously, they won't. So then who will have standing? Surely you don't expect the Congress to do anything (since the leadership of both parties support Obama in his actions). How about an individual person? To have standing, you have to be directly damaged...just try proving that...
The only people who could be held accountable are USCIS agents who processed the naturalization paperwork and, well, frankly Obama could issue them blanket pardons so that any successor government could not prosecute them.
(While this, on the surface, sounds like unmitigated paranoia...is it?) -
Well, he won’t go that far (though I can’t say I would be shocked, merely surprised) but if there wasn’t a more obvious GOTV tactic I don’t know what is.
But I'm interested in why the democrats are pushing this impeachment narrative. Are they trying to rally behind Obama's flagging popularity? Are they trying to further polarize things along racial and ethnic lines? Are they daring the House to do this knowing there is no chance for success? And, if so, why? Do they see some advantage in this approaching the midterms?
I can't help but think its all political but don't fully understand their motives.
When you look at what is going on right now I think the boy has already taken “action” on immigration. The Feds are going to start going to Central America to pick up illegal aliens and escort them back to America.

Barack Obama will get up off the couch to walk the dog after it craps in the kitchen.
Obama doubles down on amnesty while he remains on the mid term campaign trail to bolster support from his base to retain democrat power in the senate and win more seats in the house. Once he keeps congress effectively neutered going into the final two years of his term, he will go into hyper-drive. The constitution and rule of law means nothing to Obama and his handlers. They are unstoppable, short of a coup to take them out of power.

It will never happen and Obama is baiting Republicans to do it.
He will cry foul, racism, and all before the midterms.
In short, it’s a ploy. A good one.
In any case, by the time they could get it through Congress and up for senate approval. The senate will not approve it. Only some republicans.

I don’t believe he will use executive AFTER the summer, he will try do it DURING the summer recess unless we have one member to gavel Congress in session to keep him from using his powers.
It was used before and found to be a legal action.
I believe that trial balloon popped. The fact Obama did not act before the vacation means he has blinked in the face of the unfolding disaster of people in the streets calling him horrendous names.

I would say they're all registered including SS numbers....AND the caretakers have all been given voter registration cards.....all filled out.
There's so much cheating...they don't even have to go to the polls. The Dem party will collect your ballots. Nothing secret about them.

I think it’s pretty clear that it will take a mass uprising to unseat Obama in a impeachment.
I think 30 million cars full of people heading to DC at the same time might do it.
What a mess that would be. It would shut the entire transportation infrastructure down. No freight anywhere.
That ought to get us the Senate in November, but what we do with it is beyond me.
