No need for the Clintons. Benito Cuomo is arrogant enough to do it without help.
The Federal DA could be getting a nudge from Washington, but he appears to be a badass on his own. Besides Obama may have some grudges from the past when the Italians invaded Ethiopia, Somalia and Libya. Kinda like he learned to dislike the Brits from his Kenyan father and the Jews from Rev Wright.
