Looking to buy my first AR, but as a lefty I am concerned about hot brass in my face. As a fellow lefty, is the concern misplaced? Ambi controls are not my main concern as I can work right handed controls just fine on all of my other long guns and handguns.

I have shot ARs and AK-47s and have never gotten any brass in the face.

Look for a little bump just aft of the ejection port.

That was added to flip the ejected cartridges away from a lefty's face. I believe the milspec rifles all have them - mine does.

If I am not mistaken, some of the AR manufacturers make a “lefty” version of their products.
