The Democrats knew retaining Max Baucuss Senate seat was going to be a challenge. In an attempt to hold onto that seat, Max Baucus was convinced to retire from the Senate and was shipped off to China as Ambassador. A new Senator was appointed by the Democrat governor to fill out Baucuss term and to set him up to defend the seat using the power of incumbency.
On paper it looked like a good plan. The replacement was the serving lieutenant governor John Walsh. Walsh was superficially an attractive choice. He was a career National Guardsman, rising in rank from private to lieutenant colonel. He commanded 1st Battalion, 163d Infantry Regiment (Montana Army National Guard) when it deployed to Iraq in 2004-2005. In 2007 he was selected to attend the prestigious US Army War College at Carlisle Barrack, PA, when he returned to Montana he was selected to be the state Adjutant General commander of the state Army and Air National Guard and given state rank of brigadier general. In 2012, he ran for lieutenant governor and was elected.
After his appointment as Senator, he received glowing profile in National Journal titled Five Things To Know About the Newest US Senator. Clearly the media and Democrats, to the extent they are different, thought Walsh was headed for big things.
But all was not well.

Who does he think he is, VP Joe Biden?
Yeah, but Walsh could be elevated to be VP candidate in the Democrat Party. Plagiarism is a resume enhancement.
Democrats gambled that the low-info voter would assume he was the guy who nabbed all those criminals on America’s Most Wanted.
Must be a Dimmo thing. Biden was caught plagiarizing too. Not bright enough for original thought.
The Democrats go through every detail of the life of any Republican who becomes a challenge to them.
Why don’t we follow this approach? (Mostly because we don’t think about it.) It is a medical term called “projection”. It means you tend to think other people are the same as you.
If you are a liar, you think everyone else is a liar and call them that name all the time. If you are dishonest, you think everyone else is dishonest...etc. We see this all the time. Liberals call us names for things we KNOW they do.
Let’s start digging into the background of every Democrat office holder- It is probably going to be very much easier for us to find stuff than it is for them to.
Walsh lied, cheated and stole. His actions also prove that he’s not very bright.
What kind of people would promote a man like this and select him to command a battalion and go to the War College? People just like him, I suppose.
He’s an officer in Obama’s Army, which has its own code of “standards” (i.e., the ability to deceive and dodge responsibility).
Interesting article. Thanks for posting.
Won’t hear about this in MSM.
Republicans have them too. Martin Luther King plagiarized more than 40% of his dissertation.
Or people unaware of the character flaw. Whited sepulcher, so to speak.
Why dont we follow this approach?

That’s a good question. You’re asking Republicans to play to win, but that’s probably a bridge too far for them. The road to victory starts with focus, commitment, and perserverance. Sorry, but I just don’t see any of that in the GOP.
You are correct.....look at the fake pocohauntus....yes I meant to spell this way.
Yesterday Walsh was blaming post tramatic stress syndrome for his plagerism.I wouldn’t think that a battalion commander would be exposed to the kind of combat situation that would cause that.
Montana isn’t the Vermont, my guess is that he’s done
The Republicans suffer from the same “projection” where we tend to think everyonne else is like us - honest and hard working.
But we ARE able to learn, and it’s about time we learned to play the game. Take it as a given that they are dishonest, and go find it.
Scribd has his entire file online, including all of his OER’s and the Letter of Reprimand that he received from the Vice Chief of Staff of the Army. Interesting reading. He was a very mediocre officer until he was assigned to the STARC as a Captain. Then, his career seemed to take off. He was assigned as an infantry battalion command just before the battalion deployed to Iraq. He had last served with troops as a company commander. That’s usually not a formula for success.
He clearly excelled on the political side of the National Guard. Honesty and integrity aren’t much of a big deal in that world.
Walsh is a liar, a cheater, a thief and not very bright. How could the people in the Montana National Guard select someone like that for promotion, command and attendance at The War College? I guess because they were just like him.
Very often, the subordinates know, but his superiors do not. Some guys are very, very good at projecting a certain image to their bosses. Some bosses choose to remain ignorant.
Bottom line is that Walsh had them fooled for a long time. I did notice that Walsh’s brigade commander in Iraq, BG Al Gayhart, gave him a damning with faint praise OER. Grayhart was from the Idaho Guard and may have been taking care of his own guys, or he may have had a different opinion of Walsh than the Montana Guard mafia.
