IMHO, the message should be very honest and clear.
Illegal immigration is illegal, and should remain so. To excuse this crime is to ignore the efforts and waiting of all those who came to this country via legal means - and all of those who still wait. Wouldn’t it be more fair to accelerate the legal immigration of persecuted Iraqi Christians than those who blatantly exploit the border?
I also think we should be holding foreign governments accountable for failing to provide opportunity and an acceptable standard of living for their citizens, and especially their children.
