Of course Putin had something to do with it. The rebels would certainly not be doing what they are doing without his support and approval.

Don't know if I would go so far as saying he had something to do with it. He supplied the weapons I am sure. But we have given stingers (or similar) to the Syrian rebels. In a year or so when they shoot down an airliner you can't say we had something to do with it. You can say we were idiots.
