No...they Identified with Ukraine, they called themselves Ukrainians...until Kiev Gov went south and ordered the bombings and fighting against them....
The wanted ‘Self-rule’...like our states here...separate yet part of the country.....they had no place to turn for help but to Russia to help them...Kiev certainly wouldn’t and isn’t.
If I were a citizen of Donetsk, I expect I'd probably be on the side of the separatists. But I would be deeply ashamed at what they did.
