What’s a hippy to do, now that pot is bad for the environment?

Ignore inconsistencies in logic and always go for the argument that helps you smoke that weed?

I think this article is hooey. Hemp is well known for needing minimal upkeep, irrigation, pesticide, or fertilizer.

Marijuana, as a form of hemp, mostly needs to have all male plants culled to limit fertilization. The way this article is talking, marijuana uses as much water as traditional rice farming.

During the growing season, California “pot farms” consume 60 million gallons of water a day.

<yawn> "In an average year California agriculture irrigates 9.6 million acres using roughly 34 million acre-feet of water" (http://www.water.ca.gov/wateruseefficiency/agricultural/) which works out to 30 BILLION gallons a day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acre-foot).

They got Al Capone for tax evasion.

They’ll get his great-grandson for water diversion.

60 mil sounds impressive, but a small stream will pass that in a day.

California golf courses consume more than a third of a billion gallons of water per day. Is your problem with water usage or marijuana? If it’s with water usage, you should be making a post calling for all courses to be shut down.

er... um... That's different! One is pot, the other is golf.

No more questions!

Math fail: SF population @ 825K, average per capita H2O usage in SF = 88 gallons (still very low) = 72 MGD.

Which is 20% HIGHER than the 60 MGD mentioned.

Facts. They are not that hard to figure out.

California only became democrat a couple of decades ago, it takes a while to bring down what used to be, give it some time.

If only there were a way to turn pot farming into a gay-dominated enterprise, there’d be no controversy.

According to you and your dorky past posts, ancel, California
has always been a bastion for the Democrats. You post so
much crap to various people that you forget what you are
doing. I would appreciate it if you would ignore me and my
posts and I will gladly do the same for you.

I have an emergency fishing trip up there next week.
Staying in McKinleyville.

Every state that embraces the drug culture will become third world.

I don't know about "embraces the drug culture", but I'm going to wait and see if Washington State (Microsoft, Boeing, Amazon, Trident Submarine Base, etc.) becomes third world. Not going to hold my breath, though.

Didn't advocates of continuing prohibition say the same kinds of things?

You are simply lying.

I would like to see those posts where instead of calling California a largely republican state in the past, I called it a “bastion for democrats”.

Rather than lie, let’s see you try to prove your point.

If you are too ignorant of California to discuss it, you don’t need to try a dishonest personal attack to avoid the topic, just don’t post on things that you don’t know about.

Going to come a time when between recreational crops and fuel crops, there won’t be anyone domestically raising produce.

You aren’t worth the time, ancel. And, that is because you like to
make up stupid stuff like California circa 1960s voted ‘rino/libertarian’
(or was it ‘libertarian/rino’?). You got your nose sniffing around anytime
somebody invokes the word “Texas” and then you are butt-hurt to
the point of striking out even if Texas is NOT being attacked. In this
case I pointed out to another CA critic that we are by far the top ag
producer and that the number 2 state is Texas. That is not a criticism of
Texas, it is just a FACT.

So make your asinine point, I’m waiting. After that, leave me alone.
I won’t measure up to your version of conservatism and you won’t
measure up to my less myopic version of conservatism.
