I’m certain the term “loathsome” was created to describe HBO.
Rome was a good show which I still watch. Sopranos is over rated and boring. The best show they ever did was “Earth to the Moon” which was super.
Evidently ‘loathsome’ was coined around 1250 to 1300. When it was coined, it was certainly meant to cover behavior that HBO uses to develop and produce it’s bread and butter products.

I’ve seen folks try to explain why watching makes sense. I watch my share of violent and despicable video content, so I’m no saint. I won’t sign on to watching a series where week after week, it’s just as anti normal decency as it can get.
There’s no redeeming value that can explain away our duty to shun certain things, IMO.
