Tapes? TAPES? Didn’t the IRS spend billions a decade or so ago to redo their computers and they still use TAPE backup?

Using tape for data archiving and disaster recovery purposes is still quite common, although with the cost of large-capacity drives coming down, data is often archived on disks or other storage media now.

I don’t get it. Maybe I’m too old and tapes to me are these large, round things you put a plastic cover around and stickers for ID you have log.

Small, dat types in a server I understand. Had those in my safe in a big hotel. But now with massive digital servers and backup sites, etc. makes no sense.
