I don't consider Senator Cochran to be the evil-wicked part of this. The evil-wicked part of this is Haley Barbour and the Haley-Barbour-machine.
From what I can tell, it is unfortunate that Senator Cochran allowed the Barbour machine to use him in this election.
Basically, there is talk that once Senator Cochran's win, he will resign, and seat will be given to Henry Barbour, which is not to be confused with Haley Barbour...
