And old DC-10s, 737s, etc, could be spectacular drones.

I’ve often thought a great way for Israel to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities would be to use commercial-airliners turned drones with tons upon tons of high explosives.
Suppress the air defense and move in.

At the time, yes. But since the 747-200 has such a HUGE radar cross section, the primary strategic mission for such a modified 747 would be to take out coastal military bases and radar installations along the Arctic Ocean coastline of the Soviet Union before the USAF bombers arrived.
