I live in GA, which did not create an exchange. I saw my dr. yesterday. He said Obamacare is working great in GA, & that during the next open enrollment I should sign up. Naturally, his premise for the boondoggle working well in this state is that the subsidies are in force. So what I infer from this article is that, should appeals fail, we’ll have no subsidies in GA?

If someone can confirm that I have the gist of it right, I’d appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

[Btw, I am rabidly against Obamacare. That’s just one reason I haven’t signed up.]

Hi Fantasywriter, I believe you are correct. People signing up for Obamacare in any of the affected states (like Georgia and Oklahoma) will not get federal subsidies to reduce the price.

I’m searching for the opinion of the Court. If someone finds it before me, please post. All I can find is the District Court opinion from January.

You're correct. The court just ruled that there should be no subsidies in states that didn't set up their own exchanges.

It should now proceed to the Supreme Court, where the final decision will be made - assuming, of course, that the fed.gov files an appeal.

Unmentioned is that if you received subsidies and they were not legal, you must pay them back

This disturbing detail would be enough to convince me to switch to a new doctor.

I believe that is correct. However, it needs to be projected further. Not only will they not be available, but they would have never existed!

Anyone who thinks the gov is subsidizing their monthly bill is going to be very surprised next April 15th when they find out the subsidy was a sham and they are on the hook for the entire last year!
