Obviously, my being a Christian minister, I believe in the change that comes with conversion, new birth. But, I also believe in giving people a shot at changing behavior. It can be done. Perry seems to be showing a change in what he believes about the border.

What is significant in Texas is that he is not the one who will enforce it. That will be the new governor, probably Abbott, who talks about the NG detaining, even arresting people. (I assume the legal difficulties include both posse commitatus, and the prerogatives of the Border Patrol.) However, Abbott says they can detain, they can refer to Texas security, and they can filter out the cartel, criminal, gang, and terrorist elements. I don’t care who you are, that’s important.

So far as Perry’s next run for the presidency, there are lots of indications that Romney is trying to get back into this again. He has the money to do it.

As a former bushbot, I would GLADLY take the fault-prone GW Bush over Romney, Christie, any day of the week. That means I’d take Perry.

I would like Cruz. But, ‘you can’t always get what you want..”

Xzins, up-thread you started this conversation by pointing out that we rarely, if ever, disagree on the issues, and you are correct in that statement. I also believe in second chances as all Christians do.

That being said, we do not have the luxury of being wrong on Amnesty, and as I already posted to you upthread, the sum total of Perry's actions on all issues Immigration related prove that he is an "Open Borders" advocate. Furthermore, it is clear from this half-hearted action on this issue, that he hasn't changed. The proof is in the fact that his own staff reported that he had the authority to APPREHEND all of these illegals and he chose not too. He does not want to solve this issue in the manner that is correct, righteous and moral, and that means deportation not matter how emotional that action maybe or how much the left and the media will hate him for it and already hates us for taking that position.

With regards to my comment concerning not having the luxury to get it wrong on Amnesty, we don't. If Perry, Rand Paul, Bush, Marco Rubio, etc. as President pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform (A.K.A. Amnesty) we lose the country, period.

There is no coming back from that as it will dump 30+ million undocumented Democrats into the electorate and remove any possibility of a conservative gaining the Presidency.
