Wave of anti-Semitic rallies hits cities across Germany

BERLIN — An angry mob gathered on Berlin’s famed Kurfürstendamm avenue Thursday. Draped in Palestinian flags and shaking their fists in rage, they chanted in German, “Jude, Jude feiges Schwein! Komm heraus und kämpf allein!” (“Jew, Jew, cowardly swine, come out and fight on your own!”)

Earlier last week in Dortmund and Frankfurt anti-Israel protester chanted, “Hamas Hamas Juden ins gas!” (“Hamas Hamas Jews to the gas!”). On Friday, a 200-strong mob in Essen chimed in, “Scheiss Juden!” (“Jewish shit”)

This week, similar mobs gathered in Kassel, Nuremberg, Mainz, and other cities throughout Germany. The crowds are largely young, with both immigrants and native Germans, many of Middle Eastern origin. Politically they span the spectrum, from German neo-Nazis to Marxist anti-Imperialists, from secular Palestinian nationalists to Islamic fundamentalists.

On Monday, the president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Dieter Graumann, condemned the rallies and attendant violence.

“We are currently experiencing in this country an explosion of evil and violent hatred of Jews, which shocks and dismays all of us,” he said in a statement. “We would never in our lives have thought it possible anymore that anti-Semitic views of the nastiest and most primitive kind can be chanted on German streets.”

“Jews are once again openly threatened in Germany and sometimes attacked, synagogues are being defaced and declared as targets,” he added.

Germany has a large muslim population now, many Turkish in origin. They are very radical, the young more so than their parents. I saw some of these people demonstrating in Köln during a visit a few months ago.

The Marxist left tends to support anti-semitism also, which is very much worth noting. Too long people have mistakenly believed that Marxists were protectors of the jews: this is a misunderstanding. During the Hitler-Stalin pack, the Soviets obligingly turned over bJews to the Nazis. It was only a tactical ploy to pose as protectors later. Just before he died, Stalin was preparing a new round of anti-semitism in the USSR.

Most Germans are no more anti-semitic than other Europeans. Norway is rated by one survey as the most anti-semitic country in Europe! France is notably so. This does not refer to the total populations, because their are good people everywhere.

In France, during WWII the best protectors of Jewish refugees were not the reds, but more frequently Catholics and also members of the tiny population of French Protestants. Look it up!

French Huguenauts--Calvinists--were THE most effective in hiding thousands of Jewish children during the war.

Historically Huguenauts were the most persecuted Christian religion in France, having been slaughtered by the tens of thousands by the Catholics in the late 1500s.

The FIRST European settlement in what is now the USA were Huguenauts, in what is now Jacksonville, Florida. A year after their settlement, all 400 were slaughtered by a Spanish army of Conquistadors, when they refused to convert to Roman Catholicism. These Spaniards then established St. Augustine, Florida.

Most Germans I know would like to tell these people: if you don't`like it here in a western style democracy why don't you just leave and go back to your third world hellhole...
