Let's play equal pay for equal work poker:

OK, whad’ya got? 77 cents per dollar!

Well I'll see your wage gap and raise you a death gap - since 92% of work related deaths in 2012 were men, basically because they take on the more dangerous jobs.

So gee, Rach, I guess it's NOT equal work after all.

Tell you what, if you can help to find some way to narrow the death gap, then I'll start to consider narrowing the wage gap.

But until that time happens, please excuse the guys who might put down their jackhammer so they can give a wolf whistle to the good looking cappuccino carrying 77-percenter lady that happens to walk by them on a hot summer day, okay?

Nah, women are just more careful on the job, which is why they aren't killed being lumberjacks and such.

On the other hand, if it were true that women were paid 77% as much as men for otherwise identical work, then there's a secret way most companies could massively cut their labor costs, by up to 23% (if they presently had only male employees) simply by firing all the men and then hiring equally-qualified women for 77% of the pay. Then again, if companies haven't already done this this, then why not? Don't companies only care about bottom-line profits?
