Do you have a goldfinch feeder? I never could attract them before I got one.
I am not a “professional” but I do put out feed and have several pairs of Cardinals and their oung...and 6 sets of bluebirds and their young...gold and house finches..Nuthatches.......chickadees.......Grosbeaks....Mockingbirds..FLickers......Downy and Hairy woodpeckers....the damned grackles........and 2 bluejays...
life is good.......
When I had my previous home...one summer I counted 68 different varieties of birds coming to my feeders.....It is truly better than television :-)
The goldfinches here like black sunflower seed.......I gave up on thistle, because it made my yard a freakin mess..........the gold finches love the black sunflowerseeds and at any given time I have 20 or more of them
They get impatient and cranky, as I remember. Saws DO need sharpening, depending upon what kind of trees you’re cutting. Chains aren’t cheap and a chain can be re-sharpened up to 8-10x before replacement, unless you’re sawing rocks.
Note....... for the Ponderosa.......have upper level porches with rocking chairs and that are conducive to bird watching...and have several areas with a variety of bird feeders in range........
Nothing better to relax...than to sit and rock on a porch...and watch and listen to the birds.........OR to sit on a porch and watch and listen to the rain........(ANd no, Im not old...I just prefer nature to television :-)
Same with Black-Eyed Susans (Rudbeckia goldstrum).
Just a hunch, but I am guessing black walnut that is at least 8-12 inch diameter is not easy to cut.......
she is 86...if she says the moon walked on man, she wins !
THANKS!!!!!!!!!! My girlfriend has a huge crop of coneflowers....Im gonna ask her for some seeds or heads...........
Not while I am alive, she doesnt!
I am what my older brother calls “The voice of reason...or at least “the one between me and her when I am about to go ballistic!”
DO I love my mother? YES
Do I respect my mother? YES
Does she drive me out of my freakin mind? YES!
End of discussion
Thistle isn’t a problem for me, I wonder why it is for you? They get pulled out one at a time and get eaten. Now black sunflower seed is messy for me so I use the cracked sunflower in the cardinal feeders and the finches have started feeding there after they eat enough thistle. And put some raisins in your suet basket, the mockingbirds LOVE them. In fact I don’t even put suet in my suet basket, just raisins. I buy the suet pellets and mix them with the cardinal/woodpecker food.
well.uhm....er older brother ?....and depends on you as the ‘tweener , tween Mom ?................girl, you good.
Well, there’s “Jesus on toast”... some libtard would buy “Barry in Birdshit” for a couple thou; just sawcut the board and advertise it on eBay.
The birds crap thistle seeds and the thistles grow all over my yard and the limited landscaping I DO have....and Im not all that into weeding ;-)
I also inclue Safflower seeds for hte cardkinals,,, and the finches seem to eat those too
I wish each of us had the right to punch someone in the face when they speak bs. Whore-hey would be my first target.
They’ll feast on those seedheads all winter.
