Russia dismisses accusations Ukrainian separatists shot down Flight MH17 [it's not their fault]

Russia’s Defence Ministry dismissed accusations on Monday that pro-Russia separatists in Ukraine’s east were at fault for shooting down a Malaysia Airlines jet last week, alleging instead that Ukrainian warplanes had been flying close to the plane.

The ministry also denied accusations that Russia had supplied the separatists with SA-11 Buk anti-aircraft missile systems – which are known as “Gadfly” in NATO – or “any other weapons.”

“Russian air space control systems detected a Ukrainian Air Force plane, presumably an SU-25 (fighter jet), scrambling in the direction of the Malaysian Boeing,” Lieutenant-General Igor Makushev of Russia’s Air Forces told a news briefing. “The distance of the SU-25 plane from the Boeing was from 3 to 5 kilometres (2 to 3 miles).”

The ministry’s comments came as the Netherlands announced that prosecutors had opened an investigation into the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, which claimed the lives of all 298 people on board, 193 of whom were Dutch citizens

We should all stand aside of the noble, benevolent Russians and their quest for the truth. And the Dutch were allowed onto the site four days later, so we should treat the news as though the crash happened yesterday.

There, am I off your "troll" list?

My understanding is that the inspectors are unarmed. If Russia Today tweeted otherwise, please let the rest of us know.

“My understanding is that the inspectors are unarmed.”

The pics on Twitter show them being escorted by armed militia.

There are a host of people out there that are too disturbed about what is happening here to get excited over Ukraine.

More worried about the enemy already inside our gate than they are about Ukraine. For good reason too.

Any war with Obama at the helm is a scary idea. He gets people dead on our side. He also has zero respect for our military. They mean nothing to him. He can pretend all he likes, but most of the troops know the truth.

Those are the things people consider first when getting entangled in another overseas mess.

Hard to worry about another nation’s sovereignty when we are losing our own.

Of course both sides are going to do whatever they deem necessary to protect and defend their positions...and that includes anything which could be framed to make them look like the guilty party.

The FACT remains...it's war over there... and there's nothing at all fair nor factually reported when in the heat of....and that would of course include a downed on the media wars and propaganda news that's flourishin military plane in the center of a live war zone.

Your assumptions do not make them facts when they are basedg from all sides now.

Putins always been quick to respond when anything ‘might’ implicate Russian involvement, especially in the volatile climate on his border....why wouldn't he?.... The finger is always pointed at Russia daily without any events and Obama’s agenda to dislodge Putin from his relationships in Europe. That agenda escalates whenever an event occurs which could feed his agenda.....the plane crash is certainly fuel for his fire.

As for the delay in removing the bodies, well you do know the emergency Ukraine authorities attemtped to begin doing just that as they took them to the local morgue.....these have now been handed over to the authorities and on their way to their destinations. What did you expect....it's a war zone....you guys just are thinking about recovering and investigations in a war zone.....after all it didn't go down in a farmers field in with easy access....nor was it easy to even get there.

You would do well examining the roads and travel the OSCE mentioned as they attempted to even get to the site. Fact is they're there now and the investigation is under way.

You have been bashing the Russians since you were in diapers. If you were brainwashed, you might have a chance, but more likely you've been programed as in the Manchurian Candidate and it's not possible.,

It is an Active War Zone.....

No it's a Terrorist Zone with the terrorists firing the missiles at innocent people just as they are doing in Gaza.

Boy, it must be terrible to wake up every morning and face another round of Putin-bashing on FR. Have you considered other websites? Maybe newsovietman.org? Or rodina.gov?

Failing that, there's always ronpaul.com, or buchanan.org

Interesting thing about the latest Russian spin: when it was Kiev's "fault," it really wasn't. It was Soros, Blackwater, Monsanto, Rand (corporation), the Nazis, etc.

Now that the Russians are back on their heels a bit, it's simply Ukraine's fault.

“No it’s a Terrorist Zone”

Yet another example of how the Kiev’rs are trying HARD to control the language of what is happening.

Much of what we're now seeing is the wests news agencies building their stories to keep the public engaged....more news..more ads to gather revenues from. And they will milk this til people are sick of it all...they always do. Further, Obama loves it because then he can operate forward without getting hammered for what he's doing to our country.

What bothers me is this plane crash is the focus and it's being done with purpose for political reasons now. ..and was too quick to become that. We have billions going into Ukraine and for what? In the end they will still have corruption as they failed in removing the Oligarchs and their people.....the simply replaced them with those of the same ol' pie....just as planned and orchestrated for by the US.

Once they finish bombarding the East, then you'll see the corporate scavengers coming into to rebuild the infrastructure etc....and the cash will flow from the Imf, to Ukraines Gov, to the outside corporate entities...and they'll all take their share.

I'm not worried about over there.....but I do like to be informed....Our congress has flatlined so there's little we can do til elections. Meanwhile Obama will continue to use his pen and cell-phone to do as much damage as he can before he's out....because nobody is stopping him.

These guys need to keep up to speed on events! My gosh no wonder they don't know what they're talking about....

Looks like it's all moving steady forward now....sad day for all families as their loved ones come home. Their sorrow will turn to rage in no time, and evidenced by some already...so i expect this to escalate once the funerals have occurred. The Investigations have a window to complete this investigation......either way the families want someone to blame, and to "Pay".......I suspect they'll insist on cash in law suites......which sickens me. I don't believe in making merchandise of situations as this.....the bulk of the cash ends up in Attorneys and governing bodies pockets, which is why they don't make laws against it.
