I wonder ? can I ask either you or Thackney something ?
Would this injecting carbon dioxide work on fracking wells also to get all the oil out ?
I wonder if this is the REAL reason the libs and environmentalist are against carbon dioxide, because it would help us capture more oil.

I am not a expert, but I do know one thing ?
You shake up a bottle of soda with carbon dioxide ( fizzy water is what it was called 100 years ago ) , or put mentos in it things tend to come to the top.

I wonder if Dupont could come up with some chemical that acts like carbon dioxide when you need it, turns to bubbles, but when you either need to extract it it turns into either a solvent or harmless water ?

Sounds like something that expanding foam would do.

You mean the carbon dioxide finds and clings into oil droplets ?

There is a company called Gasfrac which was working on using LNG or Propane as a frac fluid, which can be recovered with the produced gas, processed and re-used. The idea was to cut down on the amount of water needed to do the frac.

Bubbles can be the enemy in the wrong place, sealing off the interconnections between pores 'vapor locking' the formation and keeping the oil in. The idea is to increase reservoir pressure and push the oil out, without making bubbles and sealing it in.

.................
Its not.
Carbon dioxide injection is a secondary removal process, the drillers will get to if and when current procedures exhaust the fields and prices hold up...—which likely they won’t. imho prices for oil will go into terminal decline after 2020 because of falling demand caused by natural gas trains trucks buses and electric cars

Carbon Dioxide injection must be in contact with the oil in the ground to work effectively.

The fracturing process “cracks” the rock so a differential pressure can be made between the rock and highly-conductive fractures created which causes fluids to move through rock much more rapidly than if the rock is not cracked.

Two completely separate processes.

Theoretically, there is benefit from injecting CO2 into fracced wells; however, from a practical matter, if a well requires fracturing to flow oil, the chances are great one would not get sufficient contact between oil and CO2 within the matrix to get the desired benefit of injection.

I do not think CO2 related to oil recovery is that much on the enviro wackos screen. It just happens to be an easy target to announce the world-wide problem of greenhouse gas effects.

The four big problems the wackos have in trying to convince people to reduce CO2 emissions are

1. there are other gases which affect greenhouse even greater that there is no way to mitigate(like water vapor)
2. CO2 from natural causes like volcanos do a lot more pollution than anything man can create via emissions
3. all living animals create CO2 in order to live
4. most plants must ingest CO2 in order to live

Number 4 is something the libs and environmentalist seem to not understand, more CO2 = more plants = more oxygen for humans.
