I have thought about that ‘roads that the rest of us paid for’ line.
I suggest that the goods transported are not the factory owner’s goods, but the purchaser’s goods (just not purchased yet). So the purchaser is paying his own way for his goods to be transported.
Kind of like value added tax. The buyer ends up paying it all in the end.
If the factory owner paid for the road, the goods would cost a whole bunch more. PS, anyone who drives on the road pays for it with highway fuel tax (if it wasn’t being misspent on other things). Big delivery trucks pay more for fuel tax, and for weight at licensing time.
I Don’t know about the other stuff, but I sure don’t want the big boys taking over the Intenet. Imagine what it might cost us to keep FR if that happens.
