Let’s be clear here. The guy was not hurting anyone, not threatening anyone, not causing any kind of problem.

He was SUSPECTED of not giving the State it’s share of the profit from tobacco sales.

“Nobody began the day with the expectation it would end the way it did.

There seems to be a lot ơf police officers nowadays who hope the day ends that way and are tickled pink when it does. Better than shooting a beagle.

I do notice the video is edited between where they’re talking and when they are wrestling him down. Makes me wonder what happened there.

This article could be relevant, though it’s over 20 years old.

Thank you. I must admit, I shake my head a little at the rookies coming into my agency these days. sometimes I think their priorities are a little skewed. My goal has always been compliance. If I can get compliance with rules and laws without tickets, arrests and fights- great! some of the newer officers think arrests, tickets and getting physical are the job. Or maybe I'm just a career cop who decided it was easier and less messy to think my way out of trouble than fight my way out.

The man grimacing had been caught in the act of murdering the family of the man with the pistol a few minutes before the photo.

The same thing happened around the corner here. A man was standing in front of a store. He wasn’t panhandling or dealing, etc. He was accused of loitering. Same result. Tragic.

I am not defending the cops in the video. As I said:
“if the cops in the video had waited till the other half dozen who backed them up had gotten there, the guy MIGHT still be alive. Why they moved in I don’t know.”
What I object to is the making of sweeping, universal, negative statements about cops. A far as I’m concerned, GOOD cops are what is saving this country from being a Detroit from sea to shining sea.
Once the politicians take over the policing like they are doing in NYC, the country is doomed, or into revolution.

Please don’t assume all of us are JBT’s because we pin on a badge before we go to work.

Sorry bro but times are changing fast. My grandfather was a Detroit cop, my dad was a Detroit cop and up until recent years I've always respected cops and treated them accordingly.

My attitude towards them has changed drastically, I don't respect them any more even tho I show them respect. Instead, they scare the hell out of me and respect should not be a result of fear...........

As a side note, I play senior softball with a number of retired Detroit and suburban cops and their attitudes and demeanor is stereotypical of what an obnoxious cop is imagined to be.........

Curious, how close do you live to a large city? I lived near Chicago for most my life. Much different perspective on these sorts of things after living in the sticks for a while.

I can accept the premise that the profession of law enforcement is changing, and not for the better. I dunno- I’m looking at possibly being medically retired in the next 6 months. a few years ago I would’ve been really upset about that. now, hell-where do I sign?

I’m a cop and I’m subject to random testing. Most all the state agencies in my state are too. It varies by jurisdiction.

Civil war in Vietnam - Only the strong survive

Too bad it was the Commies. Just like today in the U.S. wher the head commie is supported by his loyal department of propaganda.

Just as always - remember Water Cronkite? He to loved his Commies
