A London-based correspondent for Russia Today resigned Friday over what she called the Kremlin-funded network’s “total disregard” of the facts surrounding Thursday’s Malaysia Airlines crash, saying RT is “spreading lies” for Vladimir Putin.

Sara Firth said in her resignation announcement that while she has respect for “many on the team,” she’s “for the truth.”

A London-based correspondent for Russia Today

Does she think she's immune to a midnight knock on her door just because she's now in exile in England?

I have a liberal friend who won't even open a link if it is from Fox News. When I asked him where he gets his information he told me RT.

And that is why liberals are misinformed.

Let me help:

“When this story broke I ran back into the newsroom and saw how we were covering it already and I just knew I had to go,” she said. “It was the total disregard to the facts. We threw up eyewitness accounts from someone on the ground openly accusing the Ukrainian government (of involvement in the disaster) and a correspondent in the studio pulled up a plane crash before that the Ukrainian government had been involved in and said it was ‘worth mentioning’.”

“It’s not worth mentioning. It’s RT all over, it’s flirting with that border of overtly lying. You’re not telling a lie, you’re just bringing something up. I didn’t want to watch a story like that where people have lost loved ones and we’re handling it like that,” she said. “I couldn’t do it any more, we’re lying every single day. Every single day we’re lying and finding sexier ways to do it.”

Quote lifted out of context. What a surprise. Not.

It's a sad day when some FReepers have lower values than a former RT reporterette.

Watching video from there is just so weird.

This is supposed to be a Russian news network, but it’s full of Americans and Brits hosting shows, and it’s done with an obvious Russian bias, so it ends up looking like some sort of parody of a newscast.

Just don’t dare call RT “propaganda.” They get angry when you call RT “propaganda.” Then they change the subject to MSNBC, as if that makes RT’s propaganda ok in some mysterious fashion.

Anyone can go to the Russia Today website and see how they’re covering this story. As of last night, their lead item said that Ukrainian government missile systems were activated at the time of the shoot-down, which is meaningless but is meant to direct suspicion to the Ukrainian government. I also couldn’t find any RT coverage of the heaps of evidence supporting the separatists’ involvement. It’s really laughable.

‘I think Laz would hit this’

I strongly agree, she is one great looking lady.

This airliner story is just another distraction in a long list of distractions. When are people going to start tuning out of this game?

RT is English language state-run media. It is incredibly biased against the US, more an anti-American propaganda outlet than anything else, which is why it appeals to so many American liberals.
