If the GOP would have a candidate, any candidate, who would run on promising to dismantle the IRS and go to a flat tax, that person would wn in a heartbeat. The IRS is the government’s single most coercive and intrusive agency. And don’t forget, it’s in charge of Obamacare, too.

If the House had any guts,
they’d completely defund the IRS until they cooperated,
and start jailing people in the mean time.

A flat tax does NOT dismantle the IRS. A Fair Tax would do a somewhat better job of doing that.

The **best** way is a 50 State tax. There would be no IRS whatsoever. Each governor would receive a tax bill from the feds once a year. The size of the bill would be calculated by the number of citizens over the age of 18. Each state would figure out how to collect it. With 50 experiments, the least expensive to the state and citizen, most business friendly, and compassionate would emerge.
