Gov. Rick Perry Says Texas May Soon Take Steps to Secure the Border — With or Without the Feds
TheBlaze ^ | 7/17/2014 | Erica Ritz

Texas Governor Rick Perry (R) has been begging the federal government for years to secure America’s southern border. Now, as America faces what some are calling an “invasion” of illegal aliens, Perry said the time may come that Texas is forced to secure its roughly 1,200 mile border with Mexico with or without the federal government’s help.

“We’ve been able to shut down illegal activities in certain sectors with our different operations that we’ve had,” Perry said on The Glenn Beck Program Thursday. “But I think there’s a point in time where you say, ‘You know what? This 1,200 mile border has to be secured.’ And if there is a people and if there is a place that it can happen, it will be Texas.”

If he meant actually to do it he would not announce it. The announcement is a heads-up to the feds to forbid him to do it while getting credit for the intention.

That's right, the "announcement" is an invitation that Obama forbid him from acting; that way he's off the hook.

I certainly understand why some feel as you do. I’ve been hounding him almost non-stop to secure the border.

Okay, will do-—it’s just that the Gov says things that demand a riposte.

Governor Perry could really mix things up if he asked the border country and adjacent Sheriffs to start organizing armed militia posses of “honest citizenry”. While the State police and even the National Guard are the first line of defense, the posses would be like light cavalry, on both vehicles and horseback, as a second echelon screen for any illegals who got through.

Good — but it should have been done already.

You know, I just found out today that the TSG is not an armed force and has no law enforcement authority. Most members have CHLs, but they are not issued military weaponry. They’re more the support arm of the Texas Military Forces.

I guess that makes sense since they are technically the organized militia for Texas. They can concealed-carry handguns and open-carry long guns just like the unorganized militia.

“If Open Borders Perry actually does this, he actually will become a contender for the Presidency.”

BINGO.

He will be strongly in the lead, and everyone else will still be back at the start.

Everyone in America is standing on the sidelines, while our country becomes ever more bogus.

Completely right. Completely.

That’s what the current operations have been focused on as I understand it. Prevent crossing, push drug-runners back across, or apprehend those who are encountered on Texas soil. I’ve been reading about some of our past and current border operations.

...and Abbott is as quiet as a mouse on this too.

I’ve noticed that, too. Running for Gov...and not a peep about the invasion taking place on our TX border. What gives, Abbott?

By hounding...do you mean by a direct connection to Perry’s ear? Or, do you mean by leaving messages on his Governor “Hotline”? Or, some other means.

Just curious. Thanks.

No, it’s not just in the movies. County sheriffs have the authority under the Texas Constitution to call up the militia. They have to then notify the Gov. about the extraordinary circumstances that created the need for the sheriff to do so without asking and waiting on the Gov. to do it.

Thank you for reminding everyone what Texas and Perry have done so far which is pretty much all we can do under the Constitution
and especially for pointing all Perry did was SAY what he was considering doing.
it was good that he did say it. maybe it will get the feds moving. But even if he sends the Guard down under state authority there is nothing they can do to stop the illegals.
I bet that scum BO is thrilled with the Ukraine ‘tragedy”
takes the hear off this issue
meanwhile thousands more are streaming in

No, he hasn’t been quiet. He’s been doing his job as TX AG in support of TX LEO operations to secure the border. He’s been on the horn with the WH a good deal and handling the required legal affairs. He’s made a few public statements about it.

The miniscule Texas State Guard, DPS and Texas Rangers report to the Governor, the NATIONAL Guard is funded by Fed and reports to the POTUS unless assigned otherwise. If you have verifiable linkage otherwise, please let us know.

Excellent. He has to know the frustration that not just Texans are feeling, about this invasion via the Texas border.

Where is our AG/Candidate for Governor Abbott, on this? I’ve not heard a word from him, but I may have missed something.
