I think you are misreading his position greatly. I agree that the still isn't as protective as I would like him to be, but he certainly isn't as open-borders as you are implying. Even his enemies (for example, the articles you pointed to) aren't stating it as extremely as you do.
Regrettably, nearly all the top tier folks have something wrong when you look across the position spectrum. We are going to end up having to compromise. I think all on the right would consider abortion support to be a show stopper (yet, even then there is the “rape, incest, health of mother weasel). And we should would like an constitutional carry supporter, but nobody running for office is going to admit that.
But many of the other positions have so much breadth of gray that is it hard to pin someone down. I think Walker is further to the right on amnesty/borders than you suggest. I would like him to clarify his position, so there is no room for implying he is something that he isn't.
Thanks again for responding.
I’m always happy to discuss and disagree with those who can do so civilly—or at least I hope I am!
I wasn’t actually quoting articles from his enemies, at least as far as I know. But I don’t see how easily one can misconstrue his own statements such as:
If youre somebody, whether youre from Mexico or Germany or Ireland, and you want to come to this country legally, we should find a way to make it happen.
