Anti-illegal immigration activists are planning several hundred protests in cities across the country on Friday and Saturday, part of a growing backlash against the federal government's efforts to temporarily house migrant children detained at the border.
Protesters say they are concerned about safety, as the Obama administration pushes to move detainees from Texas to shelters run by nonprofits in other states.
This week outside the southern Arizona town of Oracle, Marla and Bruce Bemis along with several dozen of their neighbors were lined up along a road waving American flags and holding signs, as patriotic music occasionally played in the background. Word had come that the federal government was planning to bring some of the detainees to a local academy for troubled youth.
"You know it's a shame that they're kids, if they're kids, but I guess their parents didn't care that much to send them on that journey to here," says Marla Bemis.

Rick Loomis/AP There's often an undercurrent of suspicion at protests like these. Most of the asylum seekers crossing the Texas border are kids without criminal backgrounds. Nevertheless, the Oracle protesters pledged to stand in the road to stop the buses, just as others did earlier this month in Murrieta, Calif. In Oracle, the buses didn't turn up.
One of the organizers of this movement against the government's plans is William Gheen, president of the North Carolina-based Americans for Legal Immigration PAC.
"We're the good guys and gals in this equation," says Gheen. "We're the American defenders that are standing with the current Constitution, the existing federal laws, and the current borders of the United States that are in peril here."
Gheen says protesters are relying on "whistleblowers" people who work for federal agencies who have learned where the detainees are being sent.
Social media are also playing a big role in planning for the two days of nationwide protests that begin Friday, ranging from demonstrations in front of Mexican consulates in California and Arkansas to waving flags on highway overpasses in North Carolina.
"Then in November, we're going to throw so many illegal immigration or immigration reform amnesty supporters out of office, mostly Democrats, it'll make your head spin," Gheen says.
While there's a clear, larger political agenda at play, many protests are also being fueled by a resurgence in anti-federal-government sentiment noticeable in some parts of the country.
Still, not all of the opposition is coming from conservatives.
And then you have local officials, some of whom say the federal government and its lack of communication aren't helping the situation.
Jeff Stone is chairman of the county commission in Riverside County, Calif., a large, suburban county east of Los Angeles. Murrieta is in the county, and Stone, a conservative Republican, is one of the local leaders who inspired the protests there.
"We still don't have communication from Border Patrol, whether there's going to be immigrants coming or not coming," he says. "We don't have any communication with ICE. So it's just been very disorganized."
Stone says his county was prepared to handle a couple of hundred migrants any more than that would put a strain on local governments that are already struggling to provide services for residents.
"Listen, you can't blame these immigrants for trying to take their children and go someplace where they're not oppressed and not threatened by gangs and that such," he says. "You certainly cannot blame them for wanting to find a better life in this country."
The comments are full of liberal rants, but the article is balanced.
I am surprised and pleases NPR called them ‘anti illegal ‘ protests.
I will be at 2 this week end
I hope every freeper will find one and show that POS BO he can’t get away with this
WTH?
How did this phrase get passed by the NPR PC police?
Well, looks like we can say illegal immigration. We are no longer allowed to say illegal alien. Liberals banned the term illegal alien from news reports and talking head programs.
That would be Documented Americans finally
respond to the start of CWII by the
ultracorrupt undocumented Indonesian and his
EXEMPT traitors who broke their Oaths to defend America.
I see what you mean about the comments under the article but I guess they reflect NPR’s core audience.
Normally, they identify people on our side as "anti-immigration." They do it routinely, they do it consistently, and they have done it for at least 25 years.
It might be the reporter. Looks like he has been calling them illegal for years.
CONTACT YOUR REPS AT ONCE: The House is moving on Obama $3.7 billion request.
MESSAGE: The bill MUST contain provisions for IRS, SEC, FBI, Secret Service surveillance of all WH communiques---with power to supboena all of Valerie Jarret's wire-transfer records, cell phone records, mobile devide records, computer hard drives, emails, instagram posts, her communiques with the DNC, and the like.
Tell your Reps----no frickin' way do taxpayers want Obama to get billions of our tax dollars----without assurances that the vote-crazed ding-a-ling is not using it to buy Democrat votes for amnesty....or to wire-transfer zillions to repay Central America honchos for emptying their decrepit villages to give Obama new Democrat voters.

BACKSTORY Obama used billions in tax dollars to get the Obamacare debacle passed. Some observers have noted that the Democrat-controlled Senate passed Obamacare "after a series of unsavory transactions that purchased the aye votes of several shrewdly extortionate Democrats"....with a huge pile of money still unaccounted for.
The most unsavory was Landrieu's $4.3 billion "Louisisana Purchase."
THE PAPER TRAIL IS HUGE Sen Landrieu (Scumocrat-LA) sold her aye vote in what Forbes Magazine dubbed "The 'Louisiana Purchase" that included a massive $4.3 Billion to Landrieu
FORBES REPORTED the Democrats nailed Landrieus support for Obamacare w/ a greenback bribe. Landrieu, critics believe, pledged her vote in exchange for some $200 million more additional federal funds for Louisiana. Except that, due to a drafting error, the law ended up giving Louisiana $4.3 billion: more than twenty times the assigned amount. MORE HERE http://www.forbes.com/fdc/welcome_mjx.shtml
===============================================
BACKSTORY In the fall of 2009, Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) was trying to get the necessary 60 Dimocrat votes to pass the Affordable Care Act. He needed every Dim on board, which gave waffling senators a great deal of leverage. In Landrieu's case, she connivingly saw that selling her aye vote could get her maybe $200 million federal dollars. Obama complied. Reid chalked up another vote for Obamacare. But not the measly $200 million but $4.3 billon was attached to the Obamacare bill earmarked for Landrieu.
=================================================
How $4.3 billion to Landrieu was calculatedly attached to the Obamacare bill, and how Obama and Reid failed to catch and fix it, is yet another indictment of the Obamacare atrocity. The payoff to Landrieu should be investigated as an indication of how EVERY Democrat came to vote for Obamacare....and perhaps helped elect more loyal lock-stepping Democrats.
========================================
RED FLAG Even though nobody asked him, Harry Reid (D-Nev) recently announced "the border is secure"...... a potent signal that hanky-panky is afoot.

RAMIFICATIONS OF THE INVASION KICK IN---Third World sex offenders, drug-runners, gang members and terrorists are enrolling in US schools.
NRO reports adult illegals posing as "unaccompanied alien children" are attempting to enroll at Massachusetts public high schools. Some of them had gray hair, said they were 17 years old, and claim to have no documentation.
School policy is to check w/ families---who identified the graying man enrolling in their high school as a 35-year old adult.
=================================================
POINTS TO PONDER Gray haired men enrolling in schools?
More likely drug lords and drug runners are infiltrating public schools---planning to set up long-term lucrative businesses. You know how that works? Giving kids free samples to get them addicted is part of the cartel business plan.
Graying men posing as high school teens could also be sex traffickers --- lining up nubile kid for their johns..... and the young 'uns for pedophiles who pay big bucks to get ahold of the little darlings.
Anyhow, tolerant and compassionate libbers whining about the "humanitarian crisis" must be OK with that (/snix).
==============================================
Town fathers are all shook-up as their carefully drawn budgets are being looted by the "little children" and gray-haired high school students enrolling in their schools.
================================================
Hugo Chavez taught Boobamba a neat trick---if you don't have the votes to win---you import them from destitute countries. If you promise them billions in remittances they'll gladly empty out their villages.

Tax dollars across the border:
INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY---Central America Border Rush Fueled By Remittances
(extortion racket---US taxpayers to prop up corrupt govts)
......52,000 unaccompanied illegals crossed the south Texas border this year.....as the political debate focused on immigration enforcement, a key economic factor has been lost in the clamor. Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, which are supplying three-quarters of the latest cross-border flood, and are dependent on their diaspora in the US to prop up their own woeful economies.
Immigrants send back billions of dollars to their families. Remittances have risen to 16.5% of El Salvador's GDP, 15.7% of Honduras' and 10% of Guatemala's, according to World Bank data. Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and Bolivia rely on remittances for 4.1% to 9.7% of GDP.
But the figure drops precipitously for every other country in Latin America. Mexico, with the largest immigrant population in the U.S. with as many as 13 million people, now relies on remittances for just 2% of GDP.
Migrant remittances to Mexico were $22 billion in 2013, 29% below their 2006 peak. For Colombia, once a locus of drug-war violence, that has turned itself around, remittances are only 1.1% of GDP. Free-market star Chile's figure is 0%.
It's not surprising to see Central American leaders urging the U.S. to let the newest arrivals stay. Those migrants' remittances offer a lifeline to desperately poor countries. While the money goes to families, it helps the broader economy......and ultimately fills government coffers.
A 2008 Pew Research Center survey found that 54% of foreign-born Hispanics send remittances to their home countries, compared to 17% of U.S.-born Hispanics. Undocumented immigrants are believed to send more cash home than either.
Virtually all the cash received by the three remittance outliers is from the U.S. (Guatemala 89%, El Salvador 90%, Honduras 87%).
If people will just stand up like this yes the media has to acknowledge it.
I think the liberal media is scared because Obama is blowing it before the election.
The deadly E-coli is a distinct threat---these people come from uncivilized villages that have no sanitary facilities ---they never even saw a roll of toilet tissue---much less know what to do with it.
Observing the invaders atop speeding freight trains (not meant to carry passengers)---one can only conjecture on their hygiene.....nauseating to think of how thay might have handled body wastes.
==============================================
The e-coli threat is a given. The invaders will be in store, restaurants handling our food and merchandise
The deadly E-coli is passed through unclean hands from improper bathroom habits. E-coli has been found on the handles of supermarket carts.
And more----there's e-coli contamination on school buses, school facilities, school supplies, books......and public buses that transported them....and so on.
============================================
Not only Mexican restaurants---but fast food hamburger joints, supermarkets, retail stores.....the contamination could get fierce.

Ya’ don’t say!
Headed to Sacramento this weekend.
DAD~~~
thank you
I am in dallas where this loony lib judge is thinking he can get reelected by bringing illegals here
we will be at his office tomorrow
That is meaningless to me.
I call them illegal aliens at least ten times a day in FR alone!
Nobody controls the English language, as far as I'm concerned.
Asylum seekers? WTHeck? That's a European term. And how do they know they don't have criminal backgrounds? You mean they've done background investigations? Really. I don't believe it.
And it's mostly not children, it's male teenagers and who knows how many are gang members? No one knows, and the Feds don't want to know.
