Never understood why they don’t sell advertising on the tail as it’s always been billboard sized. When seeing them on the flight line, I called them opposite of stealth. Brits didn’t like it. Still laugh when we saw the air to air version of the Tornado come out.
The Tornado was never designed as a stealth plane or figher aircraft, it was designed as a low-level strike bomber, flying under the radar, in the 1970s. For its designed role, it was apparently very good, but the problem was, idiot British politicians didn’t replace the Phantom II with a designated fighter aircraft until the Eurofighter was finished in the early part of this century.
