My little girl is a miracle.

We were told that night in January that we were going to lose the baby. The Doctor, a wonderful pro life Catholic woman, came in and told us that in 48 hours labor would start, and that she had never had one rupture that early and make it to term.

8 days later, we went home with my bride still pregnant. She spent four months on bed rest, and had our little girl by c section on May 21st. Our daughter’s lungs are the issue, but she is doing well and should come home soon. Our Doctor is writing it up and will place it in various journals.

For us, it is an ongoing journey. We have been very blessed to have the doctor we did. Most will tell the mothers to abort at that point, Doc never even brought it up. When our little girl made it to Iowa City, most of the NICU doctors and nurses could not believe that she was there with the history she had.

Disturbing site and more disturbing numbers of human deaths.

Planned parenthood has been busy providing contraceptives I see.

Those statistics are horrible. 17 million black babies since 1973? Blacks should be screaming, that's around a third of all abortions since 1973. Margaret Sanger must be proud of the genocide she unleashed on the world.

As disturbing as it is, I bet the dems look at those numbers and are proud of how many women were able to control their reproductive rights.

Sanger succeeded where even Hitler's Luftwaffe failed.

Now, illegitimate births are higher now, but they were not as low as we like to think they were 200 years ago. This site suggest it was about 37% or so of first births were before marriage.

I just rolled out of bed and haven't had coffee yet, but isn't your source saying that the illegitimacy rate was 2 to 4% in England in the late 1700s and that 37% of first pregnancies were 'conceived' before marriage? *"" For example, while only two to four percent of births in England in the late 1700s were illegitimate, thirty-seven percent of first births to a couple followed pre-marital conception.""*

Besides that isn't about the female marriage rate anyway.

Here is another link to Google books.

http://books.google.com/books?id=hx5tyNkDQ7AC&pg=PA64&lpg=PA64&dq=illegitimacy+rate+1700&source=bl&ots=Cg0nDhg7HX&sig=7_6prKTd3mdDqhhA4gRkOp8R4yE&hl=en&sa=X&ei=q8bHU5nACsq6oQSFioHwAQ&ved=0CCgQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=illegitimacy%20rate%201700&f=false

And I guess you are right, it isn’t just about the female marriage rate. My point was that there were times with high rates of illegitimate children in Western countries before now.

I've only been following this conversation sporadically, but I'll chime in anyway.

I have studied European history, particularly the high and late medieval and early Renaissance eras, extensively.

I think the real difference is that in past centuries, regardless of whether there was an actual marriage, there was typically a normal family structure. Obviously, in those times it was much more likely that one or more of the parents would die while the child was young, this was the case regardless of marriage.

Well I’m confused, I thought your claim was that poor people didn’t marry until about the last 200 years.

Yes, she is a miracle. I’ve never heard a success story that early. My friend last year lost twins and they were close to 20 weeks when the leaking started. She still has not had success yet getting pregnant again. She tried many time before the twins and is still not giving up but in such pain.

How exciting that soon you will be bringing your little kangaroo baby home. Hug and kiss her every day. I’m so happy for you. Prayers heavenward for a long and healthy life for her.

The doctors and nurses in Iowa City would sometimes sneak in and stare at Dani. Most said that they would never expect this to happen.

My wife had a full rupture of membranes, but the placenta formed a little pocket around Dani’s face. She always had a little liquid there.

Dani will be home in three weeks or so, without oxygen, and only minor complications (she has a heart murmur, but I did, and my great grandfather had one till his 90’s). We have a ways to go, but the last sixty days have been very humbling.

Wow. I foresee great things for this little one, to whom Gd has given so much. Hoping you won’t be putting her in a big daycare too soon.... She needs a good long babyhood. I’m so happy for you all.

And I will be telling this story to others who are in that position. The placenta kept a pocket of fluid around her face. That is amazing and beautiful.
