Potential converts to Mormonism? I’m not kidding, illegal aliens are core targets right now and the LDS church doesn’t do charity work in impoverished countries like Christian organizations do - they help their own only and even that comes with a very high price akin to slavery.

Interesting idea. You may be right, but I'd like to see more evidence.

For Beck I suspect that convenience plays a large role. These kids are in the United States, so it's a short trip to the kids, it's easy to find a decent hotel and good food, easy to find technical staff, and easy to find media cameras to stand in front of. Those things wouldn't be so easy in rural Burundi, so Burundi's kids will be ignored. Call it convenient compassion.
