Hamas acting erratically but hardly harmed, sources say

Despite days of punishing airstrikes, Israel’s military campaign has failed to inflict serious damage on the Hamas war machine, several sources said Monday.

Israel’s Operation Protective Edge, nearly a week old, has been hobbled by insufficient intelligence, an unwillingness to inflict mass harm on Gaza’s civilian population, and Hamas advancements based on takeaways from the last major armed conflict in 2012, according to current and former officials.

“They still have almost 90 percent of their rockets,” said Yaakov Amidror, a former national security adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Calling the operational changes made by Hamas “incredible,” two senior intelligence officers, stationed in Tel Aviv and in the Southern Command, detailed some of the shifts.

“There’s no doubt that there’s a problem with online intelligence,” said the officer from the Southern Command. He described a situation in which senior operatives were dug in deep underground and refrained entirely from using cell phones. Instead, he said, Hamas commanders use runners and other means.

The other officer focused on collateral damage. He said that Netanyahu directly ordered the heads of the army to avoid civilian casualties and to act with extreme caution in this regard.

There might be a cease-fire soon, depending on whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thinks Hamas' operational capabilities have been degraded enough.

If Israel targeted Palestinian civilians in order to kill them and in order to get them to leave the country and force a mass migration of the population (which is exactly what the enemies of Israel claim it does) - then that would be a war crime.

If Israel targets Hamas operatives and Hamas buildings and war material, and avoid hitting Palestinian civilians (which is what Israel says it does and “does”) - then that is not a war crime.

The second of the two paragraphs is what Israel actually does and which the ENEMIES OF ISRAEL deny that they do. Also those who “feign support” for Israel also are the ones who urge Israel to commit war crimes (and Israel doesn’t listen to those “faux-supporters”).

For 60 yrs Israel has been dealing with this garbage from the “Palestinians”, a made up nationality that even the other Arab nations don't want around. The problem is that they never finish the job; they need to wipe out the terrorists. No, not all “Palestinians”, just the terrorists and keep the land.

One of the biggest problems is that those who may want to live in peace cannot risk pointing out the bad guys. When Israel leaves the crazies will still be there and they will be a target. Much the same problem we have now after Obama; people are afraid to work with us because we won't be there when they need us.

BTW, now the terrorists have drones. Thanks Barry for not letting the USAF destroy the one that landed in Iran!

I’d guess they are not degraded much.

The Israeli early warnings were adhered to by palies by evacuating the Hamas operatives, while shoving in relatively innocent woman and children against their will, and getting news photographers for when the bomb lands.

Israel should completely end the charade called “Peace Process”. The Land is theirs; every square inch of it. Arabs should convert, either to Judaism or perhaps a Christian transitional sect that honors the Jewish ownership of the land and will fight to defend it. For the rest: And this means every Muslim: Out. Mecca is where they need to be, close to their god and their brethren. Their mosques on the Temple Mount can be carefully taken apart and shipped to Mecca as well. When re-assembled there at the Kaaba they would be a welcomed attraction for the millions of faithful pilgrims on the Hajj. Surely they would have a better life there in Saudi Arabia surrounded by the great technological wonders Islam has given the world: the sword from Qaynaqa when their glorious prophet lined up 600 Jewish men and boys and decapitated them in front of their wives, mothers and sisters, who he then instructed his warriors to rape and enslave. Extermination of the Qurayza Jews is the legal precedent in the Koran for the absolute extermination of every last Jew on earth. The incessant call to kill the Jews reverberates throughout mosques around the world. It should not be heard in Israel. Send them out.

How can they be harmed with Israel warning them left and right? It’s all a P.R. show, not a war.

how many Jews will have to die before the need to establish a moral high ground in the face of merciless ruthless enemies is satisfied ?

11 million were not enough in WW2 , yet the Nazis at least tried to hide their genocide . If you give these hate-full muzlim their chance they will make what Hitler did look like a lesser event . Muzlim hide nothing , they kill openly and with great gusto and happiness, They teach their children to become killers . They should be given no quarter .
