Shaun McCutcheon wades into Mississippi race (New Lawsuit by Big Name Donor)

The plaintiff in a landmark campaign finance case is asking Mississippi to investigate allegations of election fraud in that state’s Republican primary between Sen. Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel.

Shaun McCutcheon —an Alabama GOP donor, tea party activist and the victorious original plaintiff in the 2014 Supreme Court that bears his name — has filed a complaint with the Mississippi secretary of state arguing that Democratic crossover voters in the June primary are guilty of a misdemeanor under state law.

“It appears thousands of people who apparently voted in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate on June 3, 2014, were permitted to vote in the Republican runoff for U.S. Senate on June 24, 2014,” the complaint alleges.

McCutcheon and his hybrid PAC Conservative Action Fund have asked the Mississippi secretary of state to refuse recognize the results of the June runoff election, investigate allegations of voter fraud and take steps in the future to enforce state laws.

“Allowing the current runoff results to stand would flout state law and violate the constitutional right to vote of those who complied” with state law, the complaint alleges.

Good news for the McDaniel campaign.

Now the Mississippi Secretary of State Hosemann could be facing another lawsuit in addition to the one from True The Vote and the Mississippi voter plaintiffs. And there's no question that McCutcheon has the financial resources to go the distance.

Given his litigation track record of success involving winning big cases all the way to the US Supreme Court, I am also sure that McCutcheon legal team have done their homework on McDaniel's evidence.

This is akin to the calvary coming to the rescue. Nice to see some big guns getting aiming in the direction of Mississippi.

They’ll probably come back with the “lack of standing” rule to deny his request...

Cutthroat politics. I knew this GOP “rebranding” BS wasn’t going to work out. After all, the “rebrand” thing was a commie ‘RAT idea. The GOP shouldn’t have fallen for it.

I'd think that anyone who proved that they voted would have standing to argue that illegal voters disenfranchised them.

That was the point of the run-off. They were clearly disenfranchised in a planned and coordinated way.

Oh he’ll get standing all right. All he needs to do is back a group os Mississippian voters and the lawsuit gets in.

I wouldn’t want to be Hosemann this week with what’s coming at him.

Known that the US Senate votes to confirm or deny legislation from the US House of Representatives and, as a citizen of the State of Texas, I hereby join Mr. McCutcheon “in amicus” regarding the likeihood of improper voting that may have compromised or otherwise NEGATED my NATIONAL interest in the Republican primary involving Mssrs. Cochran and McDaniel.

To wit, I believe that several and sufficient unqualified voters cast votes in the primary run-off thereby calling into question the vote total and qualifications of both Republican candidates in said run-off.

As a citizen of Texas, I do not claim object harm in this Mississippi action yet I hereby reserve my right to be represented by the duly-elected and collective members of the Senate ( to include the Senator of the State of Mississippi) in federal decisions, especially as regards the expenditure of my voluntarily supplied tax monies that are distributed to the State of Mississippi according to the federal actuarial tables currently in use.
++++++++++++++++++++
McCutcheon has the cash and we can supply the numbers.
Joe, although not a amicus brief, is this a proper follow-along that others on FR can copy and send to McCutcheon? Can we use this (or an equivalent) to “join” McCutcheon in his effort that will add numbers to our concern?

what kind of punishment will the Secretary of State, who is apparently a relative of Thad Cochrans, get for validating an election where vote fraud has been proved?

“Secretary of State, who is apparently a relative of Thad Cochran’s”

I believe a Hinds county election official is Cochran’s sister-in-law but I hadn’t heard that SOS Delbert Hosemann was related, is this a fact? what is the relation?

Connie Cochran is Thad’s sister-in-law and she is the Hinds County Election Commissioner.

Secretary of State Hosemann is part of the Barbour gang.

They are all joined at the hip.

Is Chris still planning a News Conference this Wednesday to give an update on what’s going on?

Oh my, Mr. McCutcheon is certainly being cheeky!

I wonder if he cleared this decision through Ann Coulter first? /s

Yes.

At least 3 things are on Hosemann’s plate as of this moment:

* Wednesday morning News Conference with Chris McDaniel
* True The Vote and Mississippi Voter Plaintiff federal lawsuit
* McCutcheon complaint

His life is now in turmoil and that is a good thing.

you’re right, my bad. But the question still remains, will the hinds County election official be held to some degree of account for not catching or looking the other way on the vote fraud?

In a way I’m surprised by SOS Hosemann in this. I worked on the Voter ID petition drive and had several occasions to hear SOS Hosemann speak and have had conservations with him. He appeared to be for honest, fraud free elections. Before the runoff allegations of “street money” being distributed and the rascist ads were beginning to come out and I expected SOS Hosemann to have something to say. He nor the Governor, or the Lt. Governor have done anything but celebrate thad’s “victory”. I’m especially disappointed in Delbert Hosemann, I thought he for “one legal voter, one legal vote”, tempered with honesty and integrity.

I’m disappointed to have to say I not only doubt that anyone will be held accountable, I suspect they will be rewarded.

Yes, that is the telltale sign of a coverup, to deny a candidate access to the ballot materials.
