After my husband’s death, my doctor wanted to prescribe anti-depressives. I insisted that I was not depressed but grieving. Looking back, I think he was right and I was somewhat depressed but the thing is, I got through it without special meds, and adjusted to my situation without that crutch.

AD meds are a godsend for those who actually need them, but if you can get by without them you are far better off in the long run. The biggest risk with ADs is what happens when you stop using them.
