At least there are two Poles on the German team.

Seriously, though Poland needs to get their act together. A nation of 40 million in the Heart of Europe should get better results than they’ve gotten recently.

The only good thing about the Communists in Poland, was at least they had good soccer teams. They should have won the Cup in 74.

The real problem of the Polish football is the selection. Actually, this has nothing to do with real national preferences or even skills of the players. It's only led by an economic interest of the local branch of FIFA, utterly corrupted and truly inaccessible for anybody else from outside. Full stop!
Then, it's nothing more misleading than calling them “The Team of Poland”, etc.
IT'S THE TEAM OF POLAND'S BRANCH OF FIFA, AND NOTHING ELSE!
That's why I don't care about the game at all. The only thing I can't stand is making the game something of “the war of the world” and those disgusting tones of triumph. To me, a regular Pole, it really does not matter who wins, except for Germans. After all, it's just a sports game. However, seeing that German national triumphalism, hearing that language full of triumphant slogans, etc., is something of a dejavu, something that sends me back in time to something completely different.

One of the players on either Costa Rica or Colombia (can't remember which) had as a first name Boniek.
